Subject: Mumford & Sons - anyone seen them live? From: doncatterall Date: 18 Feb 11 - 05:31 AM Not wanting to stir up more arguments but I've just heard that they have a gig in Stornoway in a couple of weeks time. Having seen them on youtube I'm not that impressed (there were better harmonies and musicianship at our monthly singaround last night IMO). However, live performance should be so much better. Should I fork out £20 for a ticket? Don |

Subject: RE: Mumford & Sons - anyone seen them live? From: GUEST,S.T.M. Date: 18 Feb 11 - 05:59 AM I saw them at Glastonbury the year before last and thought they were really good. I also saw them at Cambridge the same year and they filled the tent... However, I am an 18 year old female. Make of that what you will. If you didn't like the sound of their music I don't see how going to see them live will fix that. They have more energy of course...but the harmonies and songs are the same! |
Subject: RE: Mumford & Sons - anyone seen them live? From: theleveller Date: 18 Feb 11 - 06:31 AM I was first introduced to them by my elder son (29). My younger son (20) has seen them twice, last time at Leeds Fest, and reckons they are fantastic live. Quite like to see them myself! |
Subject: RE: Mumford & Sons - anyone seen them live? From: GUEST,N_ster Date: 18 Feb 11 - 06:47 AM I saw them at Greenman last year, and you could tell by the crowd that it was the highlight of a lot of the festival-goers weekend. They basically sounded exactly like they do on the album, so if you like the album you would enjoy it. Personally I prefer to get something a bit extra from a live performance. What made me chuckle was how everyone in the crowd started linking arms and dancing in the same way that drunk tourists dance in Irish bars. But basically if you like the album, you could guarantee a good night out. |
Subject: RE: Mumford & Sons - anyone seen them live? From: Bonzo3legs Date: 18 Feb 11 - 07:06 AM I listened to a couple of Liege & Lief outtakes included in the Sandy Denny 19 CD set in my car this morning - recordings made 42 years ago by a Fairport Convention inventing the raw bones of much of the electric "folk" heard today. The mumfords have a long way to go to reach the playing standard of those outtakes!!! |

Subject: RE: Mumford & Sons - anyone seen them live? From: GUEST,Mary Roe Date: 18 Feb 11 - 10:35 AM I have seen them live 3 times in small venues. fantastic!! hence 3 times. I am 58 so take note that their appeal is not only to 18 year olds. I love their CD but find them even better live...their anthemic choruses really work live! |
Subject: RE: Mumford & Sons - anyone seen them live? From: GUEST,guest Date: 19 Feb 11 - 02:18 PM They are SOOOO good live! Well worth the ticket price. Saw them twice this past year, and it wasn't enough! |
