There doesn't seem to be a MIDI of The Orchestra Song, so I'm trying to make one.

What is The Orchestra Song? Well, it starts with

The violin's ringing like lovely singing...

Here's a YouTube

I've got all the parts I know (violin, clarinet, horn and timpani) but I can't figure out the timing for the trumpet. The words are

The trumpet is braying, ta ra ta ra TA ta ra ta ra TA ta ra ta [repeat]

but I can't figure out the timing. No 1/8 th's and 16th's that I put in for the 'ta ra ta ra's' seems to work. It's tricky, of course, because the tongue is flipping and buzzing playfully.

If somebody knows the timing for that and could provide it, the piece would be all ready. You could post of MIDI or something.

(It's in 3/4 time and in the key of C.)

leeneia, another thread has a lot of information, including links to a MIDI file (at ingeb.org) and a PDF of the sheet music. There seems to be some folk processing though, particularly in the numbers of tas or ras. Here is how I remember the trumpet:

X:1
T:The Trumpet
M:3/4
L:1/8
K:C
GG | c2 G2 c2 | d>G GGGG | B>G GGGG | c>G G2 \
GG | c2 G2 c2 | d>G GGGG | B>G GGGG | c4 |]

On that thread I also posted the link to a PDF in Spanish, which includes the apocryphal bassoon counterpoint.

Hope that helps.

Thanks very much, Grishka! That will do just fine.

(It was the dotted eighth on 'braying' that was confusing me.)

I couldn't find it at ingeb. I tried searching for die, Geige und orchest---

It's only natural that there has been folk processing of the ta-ra-ta's. I don't think that I myself sing them the same from one week to another.

The title is "Zur Feier" by Willy Geßler, as GUEST Lin pointed out, and so it appears at ingeb.org (The name of this site seems to derive from the name Ingeborg, b.t.w. The MIDI file given there uses the MIDI sounds of the instruments described).

No one in the other threads claims to know exactly the original, which must have existed since the composer's name is known.

We sang it with the Boy Scouts, but with the tympanon as the last voice. No problem for orchestra musicians, just follow the order from high to low.
The horn I didn't know.
Practice: every voice sings its part solo, then all together.
