'If you have not got to the Frittenden Sessions and other events at Frittenden... there are good things happening there these days' Beau Webber - Thanks for the quote Beau!

We've got a cracking series of events lined up at Frittenden on the weekend of the 26th March.

Invited weekend performers include Will Duke, Andy Turner, Annie Dearman and Steve Harrison, and Peter Collins. Peta Webb and Ken Hall appear on Sunday evening.

I think the sessions in particular will be terrific.

- Saturday afternoon -

•Tunes and songs at 12 noon at the Bell & Jorrocks featuring Frittenden session regulars, guests and friends

•Stepdancing with Kerry Fletcher and Rosie Davis at the Memorial Hall 2.30–4.00pm, entry £2.50/£1.50

•Learn old fashioned dances (eg, The Veleta, The St Bernard's Waltz, The Heel & Toe Polka), Memorial Hall 4.30–6.00pm, entry £2.50/£1.50

- Saturday evening -

An atmospheric and old-fashioned social evening at Frittenden's Memorial Hall including songs, music from the Horsmonden Wednesday night Traditional Music Class and friends, old-fashioned dances led by Rosie Davis, and party games, entry £7/£4

- Sunday evening -

The regular B&J songs and tunes session with Peta Webb and
Ken Hall from 8pm, free

Looks like a "proper do"
Sadly I'll be up in Poynton doing what could conceivably be the last ever Housewives Choice gig! Harumph....
Hope it goes well.

I'm hoping to be there Gavin (subject to not being hospitalised at the time, which is slightly on the cards at the moment) with Mrs Button (subject also to her not being in the same position!!!). I'm looking forward to it, since so far I've missed every single one.(Mind you,I'm also wistful at having to miss out on an outing of Housewives' Choice, particularly if it turns out to be the last one. Hope that goes well Ralphie!)

Great good luck Irene and Marian. If it turns out you can't make one do, I very much hope you come bouncing back for the following month's Frittenden outing!

I've just been in touch with the Bell & Jorrocks pub. If anyone needs a meal in the evening before the afternoon doings and the evening at the hall, they say they'll be doing meals!

The next Horsmonden Gun & Spitroast traditional music class is at 8pm this coming Wednesday

It's the last one before the sessions on Saturday lunchtime and Sunday evening, and before the class's big show at the Saturday evening of the Frittenden Old Fashioned Night Out on the 26th March.

http://frittendenfestival.com/2010/11/26th-march-frittenden-2011-an-old-fashioned-night-out

The plan is have a programme of dances and tunes for them, and to work through them during the evening. Musicians from the class are invited to join the band whenever they know the tune and would like to play...

I've posted a list of the tunes we've covered (with this week's pair at the bottom).

Gavin

24th November 2010 Cock of the North, My Bonnie, and Winster Gallop

Slowish examples to listen to: Winster Gallop in G, My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean in D.

8th December 2010 Donkey Riding and Strike the Bell

13th January 2011 Albert Farmer's Bonfire Tune and Little Brown Jug

26th January 2011 The Sloe and the Heel and Toe Polka

9th February 2011 Off to California and Shave the Donkey

23rd February 2011 The Rose Tree and The South Wind

10th and 24th March 2011 – Scotland the Brave, Soldier's Joy, Haste to the Wedding, The Girl I Left Behind Me

Someone had already bought me tickets for Waterson-Carthy on the 26th,. so I won't be there in the evening. However, I intend to add my dulcet tones and melodious squeezing (!) to the midday session!

Would it were closer to Cheshire...but I'm calling for Housewives' Choice anyway.
Trust that has little to do with it being possibly there last gig

Have a great weekend and love to all

Baz
