Subject: Bellamy's 'The Transports': Score Wanted

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the score for The Transports?

I'd be interested in the full score with vocals and instrumentation or simpler arrangements with fewer instruments, or even just the chords.

If you know where I can beg, borrow, or buy any of these, please let me know.

I'm in Canada, but willing to go far afield.

Shirley Collins has the original score to the Bellamy songs with the wonderful settings that her late sister Dolly wrote. She has the score in her house and there are no plans to publish it at present.

When we did our Old Songs Festival production of The Transports a few years ago we were unable to obtain a score - so we just worked it out and did it. It was very well received.

Anglo--what instruments did you use? How long was the show?

Thanks!

There are plans to stage it at Sidmouth festival UK this year and if you go to Bellamy Miscellany (a recent thread -Feb) you can find the mudcatter contact. Whether said organiser has or has access to a score I don't know.

The copyright is held by Free Reed records as far as I am aware.

Joan Crump (Ruth Archer of this parish is programmer for Sidmouth).
