Subject: RE: Black Dog/Old Shuck songs? From: Steve Parkes Date: 13 Sep 99 - 03:53 AM There are a lot of these tales still surviving, and there must be quite a few songs, too. "The hound of the Baskervilles" was related to Old Shuck or Old Shag, or whatever local name he went by. I must check up the origins of the name - unless someone already has? I can't help with any song lyrics, but there's a very funny story parody by Sid Kipper, "Black Shag" - it may be on the DT, I haven't looked yet; if not, one of you Kipper fans will oblige, I'm sure. Subject: RE: Black Dog/Old Shuck songs? From: Ian HP Date: 13 Sep 99 - 05:16 PM Steve, you say there must be songs. That's what I thought, but there appear to be none. I'm waiting to be proved wrong - I hope I am. As for the origin of the name, follow the link Joe gives. Thanks, Joe. |

Subject: RE: Black Dog/Old Shuck songs? From: Ian HP Date: 14 Sep 99 - 01:06 PM Steve - maybe you or I ought to write one? I write the occasional song when the spirit comes. Otherwise I try and get one out with a wrench and it just don't work. Maybe I'll be inspired with this one. |
