Subject: RE: Looking for Dots : Moving Moon (Jon Stoppard) From: Brian Peters Date: 25 Mar 11 - 05:40 AM I recorded this beautiful tune (with Jon's permission) some years ago on a CD I made with Gordon Tyrrall, and have used it in many a melodeon workshop. I shouldn't imagine Jon would object if I sent a copy to your group, so PM me with your email address. I don't think there were ever any words unless someone added them to the original tune. |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Moving Moon (Jon Stoppard) From: GUEST,xrisxroz Date: 09 Oct 11 - 09:30 AM I know this is an old thread but, for those interested since Smokey's devastating death last week, yes, there are/were lyrics. I wrote them when he completed the tune as part of a project we set ourselves, but, after much deliberation, we decided that, as so often, the music expressed itself, achieved it's aims etc better without words. Think of it as a vocalise as in Clara Rockmore's Theremin version of the Rachmaninov. Anna Brooks version is superb. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Moving Moon (Jon Stoppard) From: GUEST,Alan james Date: 10 Oct 11 - 05:10 PM I am very sad to report the passing away of my great friend of many years Jon Stoppard the author of the The Moving Moon and many other great tunes. Jon gave my daughter Hannah James some of her first piano accordion lessons and was a great encouragement to her and has followed her musical career ever since. |
