When Tom Lehrer toured Australia circa 1960, his set list also had to pass approval. There were police at some of his concerts, waiting in the wings to arrest him if he sang any of the forbidden songs. I don't think the 1954 rule was at issue.

Not entirely on topic, but I walked down from the circle beside a uniformed policeman after a Billy Connolly concert, during his extra-swearing period. At that time swearing was frowned upon in public. I did wonder...
