Subject: Martin Carthy in The Guardian From: alanabit Date: 17 Apr 11 - 04:03 AM A smashing article about Martin Carthy. There is also some good news about his missus. |
Subject: RE: Martin Carthy in The Guardian From: Will Fly Date: 17 Apr 11 - 04:39 AM A very good article indeed. Gave the man a chance to breathe in print, and did him justice. Also good to hear that Norma - and family - are very close to home. |

Subject: RE: Martin Carthy in The Guardian From: GUEST,Derek Schofield Date: 17 Apr 11 - 02:24 PM The Guardian and Observer seem to share a website. I read yesterday's Guardian (Saturday) - not in there. I read today's Observer (Sunday) - it is in there. Derek |

Subject: RE: Martin Carthy in The Guardian From: Andy Jackson Date: 17 Apr 11 - 04:15 PM Just read every word. What a differnt and very relaxed interview. Good news about Norma too. |
Subject: RE: Martin Carthy in The Guardian From: Richard Bridge Date: 17 Apr 11 - 05:04 PM Decent sort of bloke, but the history of the tradition is necessary if you are to know where you came from and so who you are. I am sure that he appreciates this, possibly more than anyone else in the country, but the written piece does not fully convey it. |

Subject: RE: Martin Carthy in The Guardian From: ChrisJBrady Date: 17 Apr 11 - 05:48 PM Martin Carthy presented songs from the BBC archives in 1994 http://www.mediafire.com/?uk2ksa1xkhebz Back in 1994 British folk musician and scholar Martin Carthy hosted a series of 6 radio broadcasts on the BBC 2 radio service. These are from cassette tapes of these broadcasts. He did a really good job - plays some amazing music. The tapes were digitized, and here they are. The first tape is programs 1-3, Jan-Feb 1994; and the second is programs 3-6, Feb-March. You will notice in the middle of each tape it cuts off and then cuts back in, that's where the tape side switches. I really recommend these shows, fun to listen to. http://www.downhomeradioshow.com/2008/08/martin-carthy-radio-programs/ |
