Subject: CONGRATS-Helen of Oz--Bride to Be!!
From: catspaw49

In about two days, our dear friend Helen is to be married. Since I doubt that she'll be checking in here often after that for a few days, unless the guy is COMPLETELY lame, this might be a good time to send her our best (or otherwise) wishes.

Cleigh and I were hoping to be in Oz for the event, but Qantas says there is a regulation about transporting an eccentric moron with a clay possum or something like that. In any case, I did send a wedding present.....a sharping lever for his Willie.......I mean like why should the heart be the only organ where "Zing go the strings?"

Helen, I hope you've told the guy you have a LARGE family all around the world, some of whom are largish fellows of Irish and Italian ancestry, who will be keeping an eye on him. As a matter of fact, the brother with the Italian heritage would pass this on to him now:

"Hey Scappiez, my Paisan.......I know you're probably a great guy right? Lemmee say that I know you'll do right by our Helen but if you have other ideas, lemmee give you this to remember......If you fockup in any way, my ass will be in Oz so damn fast it'll make your head swim and you'll be getting the worst fockin' ass kicking your pissant fockin' mind can imagine. They'll be scrapin' your fockin' balls off the pavement like a couple of smashed olives, yuh fockin' scumbag piece of shit!...So you're getting my drift right?"

Helen my dear, in all seriousness, Karen and I wish you the absolute best......and if you're half as happy as we are, your joys will be boundless. And to the very lucky guy who has found you, again, all our best...and I hope he knows just how lucky he is!!!

Spaw

I am told that it is improper to "congratulate" the bride, so I offer my best wishes. (Who comes up with such piffle, anyway?) Helen, I hope you have many, many bright days together. But if a cloud or two should appear, just remember to sing. Sing together if you can. But just sing.

Helen; you may have already read this. I wrote it for my daughter's wedding and several friends have used it since. Congratulations and have fun! Kat

ON THIS DAY

On this day, I wish for you, Pledges of love and prosperity in all ways.

Through the years,
I ask for cleansing winds
To tatter any clouds of sorrow,
Or raindrops of anger.

I ask the Great Spirit to
Guide your minds and hearts
To think before speaking,
To love without judgement,
To cherish in all ways,
To respect with honour,
For in the division of hurts,
There is no honour.

May you walk in balance
With our Grandfather Sky to watch over you;
Our Mother Earth to hold you safe within her folds;
Brother Sun to spread his warmth across your shoulders
And into your hearts,
And Sister Moon, to bless your sleep with unending Dreams of happiness.

The lovely people I lived with in Mexico would have said "Salud, amor y pesetas, y el tiempo para gastarlos". Translation: Health, love and money and the time to enjoy it all.

You are a special 'Catter to me, friend Helen. Enjoy your wedding and let it celebrate the beginning of mutual respect, friendship, shared visions and love.

All the best,

Big Mick

Thanks for the vote of confidence in the future, I wish you both well.

The song I sing at weddings is "Maids When You're Young Never Wed An Old Man', but I'll assume in this case it would be inappropriate!

Be together a lot.

Chris

Chris,

Since I'm cradle snatching (he's 2 years younger) maybe it should be "Maids when you're older never wed a young man"?

Thanks you guys, all of you. I wish you could all be here for the wedding - even the focking Italian.

In another thread I offered to let 'Spaw come over here and get gussied up as the maid of honour but he hasn't taken me up on the offer.

I'll be posting some photos on bbc's Mudcat Resurces page so you'll get to see what the groom actually looks like as well. His forenames are William Bruce, but he is known as Bruce, but Tiger is referring to the fact that I have lined up one of Bruce's friends to sing "Big Bad Bill is Sweet William Now" so I'll tell you how that goes as well.

I'll be thinking of you all on the day.

Lots of love Helen

A very nice couple i am associated with at work sent Bruce & I a card with this quote from The Prophet. I like it very much so naturally I thought I would share it with other 'Catters. It's not mushy & sentimental - it's very matter of fact. It's almost like one of those pop psychology, best selling self-help books in its practical guidelines.

Enjoy!

Helen

You were born together, and together you shall be forever more,
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter yuor days.
Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
but let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Love one another but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

From The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran
