How good to see "Noggin The Nog" on BBC4 this evening and tomorrow ("Noggin and the pie". Great drawing and storyline. Nogbad the Bad creates a "Trojan" pie.

Dear, dead days...

A brilliant series - I have it on dvd. As so often with Oliver Postgate, he does not talk down the the children watching: 'saga', fjords' and many other unfamiliar terms are used quite naturally. In the first episode of the first story the old king dies and again it is treated in a straightforward and natural fashion. Postgate had a confidence in his audience which is often lacking from modern programs (I understand: I have no reason to watch them at the moment!)

Ha! Lurking in a remote corner of my brain for many years has been the line - "How are you at fighting dragons, bach?"! That must be where it comes from...

Regards

I think Noggin (in some of the drawings) looks remarkably like David Cameron!

You've not really missed them, Tig. The first part was tonight, the second is tomorrow.

The first part is on iPlayer, and you can find quite a bit about the Nogs on youtube (including the Ice Dragon saga).
