I've just completed this little compilation to go with my singing of the song.

Bravo Steve, I love that song, and I have lovely memories of my old friends Tom and Bertha Brown singing it. These two fine folks are no longer with us but I'm sure many on the UK folkscene will remember them with fondness. You made a good job of it Steve, and if I can untie this knot my first attempt has put into my tongue I'll sing it myself - someday. Burl.

Great work - I hadn't heard the original song.

I recorded an Australian version circa 1908 which is all about boxing. It's on iTunes as Christening the Baby AND it's still a tongue twister!

I saw a tv programme of Cosmotheka onetime. Do you have that Steve?

Nice one.

Found the thread on The Babys Name - very good info - as usual on Mudcat
Thanks for doing the video Steve - brilliant! I also have fond memories of The Fitters - me and Prof.Wingnut (the late lamented Vic Baker - 'Dudley Vic') were booked there a few times (Dr. Sunshines Pavement Show in those days)- I do remember making Barry Roberts laugh so much that he fell off his chair and had to be helped up.(and he was no lightweight!)

We did a lot of Festivals with Dave and Al - which were always great fun. I've also seen Dave's solo shows which were excellent.
Just had a look at the videos of the 'New 'Cosmotheka with Dave and his son - looks good! http://www.youtube.com/user/cosmotheka#g/u

Cheers
