Subject: Tune Req: Farewell to Nova Scotia SATB From: brashley46 Date: 13 May 11 - 03:53 PM I'm a member of the Toronto folk chorus Common Thread Chorus , and on the music selection committee. We are looking for a number of songs suitable for chorus for next year's season, which will be a Canadian Songbook; we've found almost everything we are looking for, except that some of us would love to get a choral arrangement of Farewell to Nova Scotia ... which we have searched for to no avail. You'd think someone would have done it by now! Mudcatters, you are my last hope (I probably should have come here first, but hey ...) We pay standard royalties etc. for anything we use. (We probably can't afford to pay for a new arrangement, we've already stretched that portion of the budget to its limit.) |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Farewell to Nova Scotia SATB From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 13 May 11 - 04:37 PM Sorry, I can't help with a choral arrangement but you can hear Catherine McKinnon backed by the Singalong Jubilee gang here on YouTube. This was the first commercial recording of the song. Perhaps you can work something out from this. Farewell To Nova Scotia Music sheet here: http://nfldsongs.tripod.com/03/scotia.htm">Farewell To Nova Scotia If you go to a library and get the Nova Scotia Song Collection by Allister MacGillivray it may be of more help. The song and music are there but I am not sure of its arrangement. No thread on this song should be without giving credit to fokelorist Helen Creighton for preserving it because but for her it would have been lost. Thanks Helen! |
