Thanks for sharing this. We can all have a taste of what it was like to be there.

Does Mike know that if he were to sing his song at U.S. gatherings attended by sea music enthusiasts, he'd have an instant chorus? Most people I've run into either know the song (well or slightly) or instantly love it.

Jacqui, as mentioned in pm, I have dreamed all my life of seeing Lady Gaga perform Whip Jamboree in a jaccuzi on board the QE2 while cruising the Seychelles.
I could be flexible about which tropical islands.

You & Bob have captured this wonderful event really well. Richard has his video of the event too and my harmony (thanks Tom) is a little quieter on his version! We've already posted a copy over to Maine, hope it arrived safely.

It was an honour to be involved in the surprise itself, the whole day was just wonderful.

Huge thanks to all involved especially Mike O'Connor (Crowdercref) for all the excellent negotiations he did with the Victory and throwing himself into the day, Kathy Wallis (Cats) for starting it all off and getting permission from the Admiralty in the first place and of course to all on the Victory for making it such a special event. Those watching the video may not realise that we were in a non-public part of the Great Cabin and we were well looked after by the XO and the Victory Crew.

Of course we ought to thank Kendall for being there & Jacqui for making his wishes come true......

Looks like I missed a really wonderful event but only having had my knee op 2 days beforehand I just couldn't go. I am so glad I spent all those hours on the phone and e mailing the Admiralty, Hils and Mike to make Kendalls Day for him. He deserved it.

Amd sorry Keith, can't be done. Anyway, you asked and Kendall didn't. It all came from a passing comment. xx

Kendall, I did not have a problem getting the video on YouTube by means other than clicking on the link in the original post on this thread. I tried two ways to do it. I went back to the link in the original post to open it on YouTube and copied the web address, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVF6sXMoT80. (I'm deliberately not making it into a blue clicky.) Then I opened a new tab and pasted in that web address and got the video. The second way I got it was to go to YouTube's website and in that Search area I typed" MIke O'Connor Carrying Nelson Home." A list of suggestions came up, the first of which said, "Mike O'Connor sings Carrying Nelson Home for Kendalls Birthday 11 May 2011 in Nelsons cabin on Board HMS Victory Portsmouth UK," so I clicked on that and again the video played. I hope your brother is able to access the video.

I've just got home from a week of singing in Cornwall and Devon and caught up with this thread, and seen myself on the video....

It was a fabulous day and I'd just like to say a big thank you again to Jacqui, Kathy, Hils, Mike, Tina and the Royal Navy and Admiralty for a wonderful experience. And to Kendall, whose birthday provided the excuse!
