Wishing I could say our absence would be due to "conflicting gigs" but limited funds is more accurate. However, Carmen and I will somehow manage to scrape together enough to do a "lobster crawl" later this summer. We hope next year to make it to Old Songs as well as to the hidden treasure of "Common Ground on the Hill" festival. (If you haven't been to this one, you ought to consider it.)

I'll be there! These days I'm making it about every other year due to conflicting gigs or workshops. I'll be with the music all night RV's somewhere near the main gate.

We've missed a couple or three years due to conflicting gigs or whatever, but have our tickets and the big ol' white van so we can leave our tent at home and sleep up out of the mud. Will be in the "noisy at night," somewhere down near the day parking area. Don't plan to cook much, but will have coffee fixings if anyone's desperate.

Peter

We're booked and have hired a motorhome for the weekend.

Anyone want us to bring mudcat tee shirts? All we have are navy small and large. (There was not enough interest on another thread recently to warrant having another batch printed.)

Been to Old Songs every year since 1983. Not this year though. This is my favorite FOLK festival, and I highly recommend it.

I'll be there, even during this "austerity year" for Hunt and me. We wouldn't miss it. We're camping in our van in the "Quiet at Night RV" area for the first time (Jeri, the main ambition to stay high and dry no matter the weather!).

The Folk Legacy booth is one of the great spots to meet and greet Mudcatters, as is the Camsco booth and Don Meixner's silver.

Old Songs is one of the highlights of my year.
I look forward to meeting you, Joanne!

And here's the link to the Old Songs Festival.

I missed some years --maybe 5-- in the 80's, and I was in Kuwait in 1997, but I've been to most. Got my tickets and hotel reservation (I got tired of being exhausted after putting up my tent in what was 1) heat, 2) a rainstorm, or 3) some combination of the two. I wanted a bed and a shower.

I'm really looking forward to this year's festival, same as EVERY year!

I have friends who rave about this. I would, too, if I could go. Here's a link. http://www.oldsongs.org/

It is a marvelous festival, which I have missed once in the last nineteen years. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I kept expecting someone else to start a thread on this fabulous festival, but I guess this year it's going to be me. I've not been for 15 years, and each one of those years I've regretted not being able to go. The line up this year is as stellar as always. My Big Thrill will be getting to see Jez Lowe for the first time, though I've loved his music for two decades.

My You'll Hate Yourself If You don't Go reason is the 50th anniversary celebration of Folk Legacy records. Caroline Paton has long been a goodness in my life, the wee taste I had of her company at last year's Getaway made me realize how impoverished life has been, not being able to sing with her.

My Deeply Wonderful thrill will be that my traveling and camping partner will be the dulcet toned Margaret Nelson, she of "Let Peace Prevail" "Call Down a Blessing" and a couple dozen great recordings with Phil Cooper, Kate Early, Paul Goelz and other assorted players. Now playing solo, we're autoharp buddies as well as sharing musical tastes to a large degree. I expect to see some east coastish folks I've not seen since the 2000 Folk Alliance in Cleveland & renewing those wonderful connections.

I hope there will be Mudcat folks there who'll introduce themselves. My tent site will have a Cup Of Tea (with beads) banner & I expect to have the joy of the late night sings.

Joanne in Cleveland
