Subject: RE: Lady With Unique Guitar Playing Style From: Silas Date: 09 Jun 11 - 07:44 AM Probably the best way to play one of those bowl back monstrosities. Bloody clever though... |
Subject: RE: Lady With Unique Guitar Playing Style From: Will Fly Date: 09 Jun 11 - 07:46 AM well, well - tune to an F chord and let rip... What fun that was! |
Subject: RE: Lady With Unique Guitar Playing Style From: Zen Date: 09 Jun 11 - 07:51 AM Joyful and natural! Do you remember Hannes Coetzee, spoon guitarist who we talked about as well a few years ago? |
Subject: RE: Lady With Unique Guitar Playing Style From: Matthew Edwards Date: 09 Jun 11 - 10:14 AM Um...I don't quite know how to break this gently to you bobad, but that's no lady! It's Ronnie, from Botswana, playing Happy New Year! You can see more of his distinctive playing style at Bokete7's channel on YouTube, for instance here:- Ronnie - "2011 Tricks" Brilliant playing! Matthew |
Subject: RE: Lady With Unique Guitar Playing Style From: bobad Date: 09 Jun 11 - 10:53 AM Well, I'll be, whatever made me think it was a lady? But thanks for pointing that out to me. Pretty neat style anyway. |
Subject: RE: Lady With Unique Guitar Playing Style From: The Sandman Date: 09 Jun 11 - 11:15 AM Yes, good, but limited imo to playing in an open chord |
Subject: RE: Lady With Unique Guitar Playing Style From: kendall Date: 09 Jun 11 - 11:37 AM Very clever and interesting but a little of it goes a long way. |
Subject: RE: Lady With Unique Guitar Playing Style From: Darowyn Date: 10 Jun 11 - 04:33 AM It's not that different from playing DADGAD, ,open D, Keith Richard's banjo tuning or any other open tuning. Steel guitar players manage to play a reasonable range of chords starting with an open tuning, and some of us can even do minors, sevenths, ninths etc. Botswana Ronnie does stick to the single chord, with extensions on the fifth, seventh and eighth frets, but that is not unusual in non-western music. Are not some remarks a little condescending here? Cheers Dave |
