Subject: Folk in Vogue From: glueman Date: 10 Jun 11 - 11:18 AM There's a fashion spread in July's Vogue Magazine (UK edition) featuring a large studio spread on folk related themes. Midgeley Pace Egg, Haxey Hood, Castleton Garland Day, The Hunting of the Earl of Rone, Louise Jordan and lots more. Heads up ladies and gents, you are officially fashionable. |

Subject: RE: Folk in Vogue From: Joe Offer Date: 10 Jun 11 - 05:44 PM This link will lead you to the online stuff for July, 2011 - but I don't see the folk stuff. See also this page, which will expire. Are the "Civvy Street" photos of folkies? -Joe- |
Subject: RE: Folk in Vogue From: glueman Date: 10 Jun 11 - 06:09 PM No, it's a 12 page article entitled 'Merrie England: From the highly garlanded band Mumford and sons to Alexander McQueen's couture clad corn-dolly, folk is enjoying an unprecedented revival...' On the music side it features The Staves, Louise Jordan, Laura Connolly the clog dancer, Johnny Flynn, song collector Sam Lee and the rest is English traditional festival characters shot in studio. There's also a one page article that sets up the photographs. Probably the 'wrong sort of folk' for some but we're definitely on the radar. My wife showed me the article and I read with mixed feelings as I've been doing a series of images on some of the same subject matter, but Vogue have spiked my guns. Ah well. |
