Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: GUEST,oggie Date: 09 Mar 13 - 07:38 PM The Martin Simpson CD is called "Vagrant Stanzas" and is due out in July. From the material I've heard in the last few weeks it should be great. It's also (if I understood him right) just him and his guitar. Steve |

Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: GUEST Date: 09 Mar 13 - 12:52 PM Well here's a strange turn-up of a thread because for the first time ever I am looking forward to one! Last night Martin Simpson did a great solo night at Reeth Memorial Hall (North Yorkshire) and for encore sang Fair Annie. How I've never heard this song before I don't know but its a cracking ballad. Its already on his Bramble Briar (playable) but he has recorded it again for a new double album out this year which, back to thread, I shall be looking out for. |
Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: Elmore Date: 09 Mar 13 - 09:57 AM Following the acclaim, of his "Old Ideas" album, Leonard Cohen will be releasing a studio album at the end of the year backed by his wonderful tour band. We're especially looking forward to it because we were planning to see them in person March 22, but can't, due to my wife's continuing poor health. |
Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: Barbara Shaw Date: 09 Mar 13 - 09:46 AM I'm very much looking forward to the release of Jerry Rasmussen's upcoming gospel CD. Frank and I are doing harmony on a few of the tracks, along with Mallury Patrick and Joe Evans, and the result is quite impressive. Jerry is a masterful songwriter and singer. |

Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: GUEST,Lavengro Date: 08 Mar 13 - 07:44 AM Really can't tell you how excited I am for April 16th to come around (not wishing my life away, just looking forward to something!) so I can go and buy The Low Highway by Steve Earle. I really am past the age where such anticipation is "normal" :) I keep thinking that the law of averages means that he has to come up with a dud album after so many releases. But every time it's gold dust with a sprinkling of rubies. |
Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: SteveMansfield Date: 08 Mar 13 - 05:10 AM Well seeing as how this thread has resurfaced .... Faustus put out their 2nd CD 'Broken Down Gentlemen' on Monday next, and it's good to have them back in action. And great news recently that Calum Stewart and Heikki Bourgault are currently working on a second CD, so all right-thinking fluteophiles everywhere will be awaiting that one with eager anticipation ... |

Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: Fred McCormick Date: 04 Sep 11 - 01:40 PM I've just checked Shirley's site and it just says "later this year". There is nothing on Topic's site, but Topic tend not to announce things far in advance. My guess is, barring last minute gliches, the entire set will appear around, say, October or early November. That would get the holiday season right out of the way and be in time for Christmas. If anybody knows anything more definite do please holler. |
Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: Stringsinger Date: 04 Sep 11 - 11:39 AM I would have to say my own. I was dissatisfied with my last one. |

Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: GUEST Date: 13 Jun 11 - 05:16 AM I've heard through the grapevine that the Wild Bees Nest Project will be released on CD later on in the year. If so, that for me will be a "must have", judging by the recent concert in the National Library. Video clips of the performance are now available on the website wildbeesnest.ie . Well worth a visit. |
Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: SteveMansfield Date: 13 Jun 11 - 03:03 AM Forthcoming: The new Old Dance School record, currently at the writing and recording stage: and the Cecil Sharp Project CD. Of the releases that I've already actually got, my current recent favourite is the new (well, January) Patrick Bouffard Trio one, a fine slice of head down no-nonsense Massif Central hurdy-gurdy-driven boogie .... |

Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: GUEST,Ralphie Date: 13 Jun 11 - 12:28 AM Re Nic Jones, there a cople of video clips of him and his son Joe on You tube taken at his come back gig in London a couple of weeks ago. Not the best technical quality admittedly, but, incredibly emotional. I don't think they have any plans for new recordings, but the empathy between Father and Son was obvious. If you closed your eyes, It was Nic playing guitar...Spooky! As for me, If it works out, I'm looking forward to the revival of "Threadbare Consort" (UK harmony band of the 70's/80's) possibly later this year. Not to be missed, I'd say! |

Subject: RE: What cd are you most looking forward to? From: GUEST,Tunesmith Date: 12 Jun 11 - 04:07 PM I'm amazed how Nic Jones' return to performing was allowed to be played down on this site, but the hope that a new recording by Nic could be a possibilty is fantastic. I'm sure Nic's son could do a good job backing Nic, but what about getting Martin Simpson on board. There is a historical connection in as much as Martin took over from Nic as June Tabor's guitar accompanyist. |
