If you're looking for a song for a Christian, Jesus Loves Me and In the Garden are wonderful. I'll be singing both at a funeral tomorrow. Jesus Loves Me is much more than an itchy-kneed kids song. One of the verses is:

Jesus loves me, loves me still
Though I'm very weak and ill
From his shining throne on high
Comes to watch me where I lie

Jerry

Mrs Highlandman and I sang at the bedside of a dying friend a few years ago. "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" seemed appropriate at the time and he and his wife appreciated it.
Although how we got through it I have no idea.

Again, if you're looking for Christian lyrics, there are many songs in the Sacred Harp tradition which face suffering and death squarely and confidently.
If you are looking for other than Christian lyrics, there's the old chestnut "Parting Glass". Not about dying, particularly, but it fits. The song is much overdone and probably too much eye-rolled at by jaded folk performers, but it still deserves a look.

Gordon Bok's "Turning Toward the Morning." Especially for those without any conventional religious beliefs.

Oh yeah, Master of the Sheepfold, and Gentle Soldier of my Soul by Dave Carter (I think that is a native American re-write of the 23rd Psalm, though he was rather vague about its meaning).

I have sung for hospice patients, and I agree to most of the above (Swing Low is probably the #1 most loved for this kind of thing)
Also:

The Storm is Passing Over
Peace Like a River (the Sharon Mtn Harmony version!)
Bright Morning Stars
I Bid you Goodnight
Love Call Me Home by Peggy Seeger
Here is my home by Si Kahn
Balm in Gilead
Precious Lord
You Are My Sunshine

I also have a Hindu song (Bhaja Mana) , an African song (Thuma Mina) and several more obscure songs which I tend to use more for the actively dying, when they don't need to be paying attention and can just let go of their grip and float away on the music, which sometimes does happen, though not when I've been there.

A folkie friend of ours just died. Her husband played Phil Coulter's 'Sea of Tranquility' very much for her during her last days.
No lyrics, solo piano or concerto mostly celtic tunes. Very peaceful.
