And I misspoke in my earlier remark--too many dates floating past my desktop these days--the date we discussed was Dec. 2 (not 7).

Thanks!

a great performer

good audience

in a nice intimate venue

what could be better

thanks Genie and the rest of you who came

those who weren't there
will have to wait 'til he comes back here again
or catch him at some other place

Cheers, S. in Seattle

BTW: When we get closer to the performance here in Texas I'll start a thread and anyone who can make it over is welcome to listen (and buy CDs!) The Friends of the Library have meetings that are free and open to all.

Yes, it was a great evening.   Actually one man, two instruments most of the time (just only one played at a time).
Plus, I really enjoyed the songs where you and your guitar were backed up by your friend with the concertina as well.

This is a very nice quiet venue, with good coffee and beer and light eats too.

Glad you decided to grace the PNW with your music, Jed.

Genie

Jed, Not sure if you're on the road or if you're always logging in to Mudcat to check your PMs. But I sent you an email address for contact about the performance we've discussed. Please get in touch (details in PM) so we can firm up the Dec. 7 performance. (We are ready to go to the press with materials for next fall - thanks!) My boss also sent you a regular email.

Maggie

Thanks all for hosting, promoting, attending! I very much enjoyed the visit and was pleased to have a full house. Nice venue! Great coffee! And it's always nice to have an unplugged, all acoustic show. I hope to see y'all again NEXT time!

Latest from Jed: "I will be joined by my accorion player for part of the evening. In fact I have a few other musician friends who will be tagging along."

Looks like it's shaping up to be a great show.
Get there early for a good seat!

Cheers, S. in Seattle

Jed, that's an interesting option. I have to stay in the Seattle area (Tukwila) till 11 AM or noon and I guess I could head to Tacoma and hang out there before going back to PDX. (Of course, I'd have to be a teetotaler at the ceili, because I'd be driving on to Portland afterwards.)

I have an ad on Craigslist for riders to Portland, leaving Saturday morning. But I could test the waters to see if anyone wants a ride from Tacoma or Olympia later in the evening.

Your gig was announced at the Seattle Folklore Society song circle Sunday evening, but it looks like you are competing with a couple other shows of interest, including Roy Zimmerman performing at the Edmonds Unitarian Fellowship.    (But Couth Buzzard is closer for most of the folks.)

I'll see you at the Couth Buzzard in any case.

Jed,

I caught your last concert at Stew's about four years ago. Your final song, I think, was about the "Shenandoah." The story, and your telling of it, made me run out and read the book. You're a really good songwriter ... and performer. I'm looking forward to seeing you again! bob nelson

Genie - Maybe you can make it to the Tacoma Highland Games. It's a great event. It runs all day Saturday and will go into the evening ... it ends with an open Ceili session ... realy an open jam, not just Celtic.

There's an old thread kicking around about Jed Marum - Seattle House Concert 6/24. But that was for 2007, so I thought we should start a new thread for his upcoming Pacific NW Folklore Society Concert in Seattle, 6/24/11 - just a coincidence, it's on the same date but 4 years later.

Friday, June 24th, 2011, 7:30-9:30 pm
Pacific Northwest Folklore Society Coffeehouse Concert
JED MARUM
Jed Marum is a gifted singer, a unique and talented player and an accomplished songwriter. He is a warm and comfortable performer with a story to tell and gift for the telling. Reflected in his song writing and song selection is a keen interest in history and the passing of culture from generation to generation. Jed performs traditional songs and contemporary songs in musical style that is both Celtic and American, with strong Bluegrass roots. "Jed Marum has his genetic roots in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Those genes must come from a long line of bards and storytellers to judge from his recorded output. I have collected a number of albums from this troubadour and he never fails to deliver." - Nicky Rossiter, host of STORIES on Ireland's South East Radio. Free, donations welcome. 7:30-9:30pm, Couth Buzzard Books Espresso Buono Cafe, 8310 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, 436-2960. Download a poster.

So come on, all you Pacific Northwest Mudcatters and support one of our own. It's going to be a great concert - any concert with Jed is great! In a nice bookstore/coffeehouse venue in the Greenwood neighborhood, N. Seattle.

Cheers, S. in Seattle
