We're off on our travels and hope to try local clubs and music sessions while we're away. Any local info would be much appreciated.

We're staying as follows:

York - 1st-5th July
Louth - 6th-10th July
Yarmouth - 11th-14th July

Do hope something will be happening on these dates and thanks very much in advance.

Shame you weren't in Louth a few days earlier, although you might still be interested in this afternoon and evening event on Sunday June 3rd at Faldingworth in aid of MacMillan In Lincolnshire. Faldingworth is 30 minutes drive west of Louth. 4 miles south of Market Rasen on the A46.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

'Yarmouth' should have read 'Great Yarmouth'. Our car doesn't go that fast with a caravan on the back.

The nearest to Louth on your dates is Grimsby folk song club.

Which is 16 miles north.about 30mins driving.

Sunday July 10 at Grimsby FC is a "song stretch" singers and musicians night devoted to the songs of Keith Marsden and/or Peter Bellamy to Mark their untimely deaths 20 years ago. Everyone welcome to come and perform or listen.

Going by Little Bird Told Me, it looks as if you'd have to at least travel the 20 odd miles to Norwich for Great Yarmouth.

I've only been to 2 of the events that are listed for your dates and seem to disagree with/question the website's comments:

The Wed night Irish session that has moved to the White Lion is quite a high standard session and while friendly, is perhaps not the easiest for an inexperienced player. (noting this as they describe a Sun night Irish session at the Gatehouse as "exceptionally high standard" but the Wed is the "harder" of the two Irish sessions in the city).

Things may have changed with Thursday session in the Reindeer but (when it was at the Nelson - again, it has moved recently), Thursday night was "anything goes".

I've been informed that the Wed night at the White Lion in Norwich is not going to happen. Apparently the pub did not have an entertainment licence...
