To support the newly independent Knockholt, the Lower Stoke Winter Sings will be back, format as before. At each a hat will be passed to collect funds for the independent Knockholt.

More nearer the time.

I will be liaising with Vicky the manageress about putting on a barrel (or half-barrel) of a specialist ale preferably from Sheps (as it is a Sheps pub) under gravity or on beer engines for us.

As I might start before Xmas, I thought Late Red would be nice for the first one.

Vicky the manageress was kind enough to say to me "The pub is yours, do what you like" so suggestions not involving strippers please!

Thank you to you and manageress. Hope this will combat the blues I had last winter.

No strippers? What about sheep?

What about a raffle to raise funds. We could take it in turns to donate items to put in raffle. No problem letting rest of pub patrons participate if they want to.

Don't be silly Richard. Make him that nondescript, and some poor bugger will sit next to him, all unknowing, and get his ears blown off.

I'll be there, most probably with Poetry Bird in tow.

Lower Stoke is in North Kent, UK, ME3 9RA.

Schedule now firming up: the following Sundays.

9 Oct, 13 Nov, 4 Dec, 8 Jan, 5 Feb, and 4 Mar this winter.

I will not be wholly ratarsed in Jan as RC4 have a gig at the Good Intent on Jan 10.

Same format as usual - arrive opening time, get drunk, leave when football gets to be a nuisance on TV, eat squidge at my gaff, bugger off.

If anybody follows that silly game with a round ball (or any other silly game likely to f*** the above plans up by being televised please do tell me!

Oh WOE! The section of the Shepherd Neame website that I used to help me select the wonderful beers we drank 2 years ago has vanished, and I can't even remember the name of the chocolatey porter. Of course I remember Late Red and the Burns Night Special - and the Christmas Ale although I was not SO keen on that...

I have fired off an agonised email to Shepherd Neame. Watch this space, beer connoisseurs.

I may be late for the Oct one, as the wife has committed to selling her hand crafted greetings cards at Snodland Community centre in aid of the Heart of Kent Hospice.

Our arrival, or not, will be determined by the time she finishes.

Bishop's Finger, although available in cask, and tasty, is way too strong for a session bitter.

"What a Palaver.

Why Cant the Karaoke lot have a Friday night or a Saturday night? then we can have the Sunday from mid morn that way every one is catered for there is not any issues regarding taking the pub over and the pub profits from both events.

Right - we are on until Xmas. Starting Oct 9. The reason is that the pub may be starting refurbishment after Xmas and there may not be a room for us to play in. If there is (and it isn't needed for eg restaurant plans) then we can continue. Beer under investigation - watch this space. We may have to go with any real beer that will come in a half-barrel or is on discount for the first one until our consumption can be assessed - negotiations with the brewery on this front cannot really be started until after Sept 19. Vegans are cleared for vegan snacks. I will pre-prepare spuds for the first month, then if restaurant comes on stream they may prefer to sell food rather than give it away!
