Subject: The Lomaxes on BD From: GUEST,Doc John Date: 21 Jul 11 - 04:13 PM French bookshops have large collections of Bande Dessinees ('drawn strips') - or BD's - sort of graphic novels. On a recent French visit I bought one about John and Alan Lomax and their folk song collection trips. Very well drawn too with good likenesses of the Lomax father and son. Curiously Lead Belly sings 'Good Night Sister' rather than Irene. Any explanation from any French mudcatters? |

Subject: RE: The Lomaxes on BD (like graphic novels) From: Jim Carroll Date: 22 Jul 11 - 02:07 PM Somewhat off-topic - does anybody have any information about Alan Lomax's ballad opera 'The Stones of Tory (p. Torry - an Island off the coast of Donegal)'? Would be grateful for anything. Jim Carroll |
