Welcome to Owston Ferry Folk perma thread which is dedicated to the monthly meeting at the Crooked Billet, South Street, Owston Ferry. We have been going for some months now and have managed to keep the numbers up even during the summer months of festivals so are hoping for an even bigger attendance during the autumn/winter period. We work on a singaround format with some jamming for those who feel confident enough and also enjoy an audience of chorus participants. All are welcome and guaranteed a friendly atmosphere.
This is an edited PermaThread®, intended to provide information about the monthly meetings of Owston Ferry Folk. Feel free to post to this thread, but be aware that your message may be edited or deleted when it is no longer needed. The editor of this thread is Murpholly.

Oops, between visits to opticians, G.P.s, Hospital etc. forgot to remind everyone of this month's session. Still we were there with friends and our infrequent visitors from Haxey so enjoyed some wonderful tunes to piccolo though not sure Keith appreciated the minor keys though he succeeded manfully with the mandolin. Hope to see them again when college etc. allows. A good evening and a letter of thanks from the Owston Ferry Field Day group for our contribution so we shall expect a booking next year! Hope to see you all next month, same place, same time just in case I forget again.

Oh dear, dementia setting in and forgot to put notice of tonight's session again. Luckily the stalwartsw turned up, plus Danny and we had an excellent night and even applause from the listeners with one or two dances going on round the pool table. An excellent evening and we look forward to more.

Tonight is the night and I know we shall be one short as I have had a card from Farmer John apologising for his absence. Gosh it's almost like being back at school. Look forward to seeing the rest of the gang for an evening of music and song.

It was good to see you to Mr. Musket with yet another guitar and tunings. Glad I am not the only one whose voice range is dropping with age. A good night was had by all with me testing the hubby's recollection of Scottish tunes courtesy of Farmer John's apologies. I must get him to practice Loch Lomond though which came through more as a jig than owt else. Oh well, I can't win them all. Hope to see you all next month.

Thursday is the day of the month and so hope to see you all for a night of music, song and fun. Christmas will soon be on us and the feller is already practising for the lights turning on so goodness knows what he will be playing at the Billet. Hope to see you.

We had a great night last night despite the absence of a couple of regulars. Lots of new tunes but a number of great number of concert items. Farmer John played whistle and the feller took his guitar and sang despite his recent bad cough. Looking forward to the last one of the year so see you all then.

Very few of us but we had a really good sing and some lovely Shetland Christmas tunes. Pub was exceedinbgly quiet so we could really enjoy our selves playing our carol repetoire and introducing some less well known ones too. A very Merry Christmas to all and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Huh, wished everyone a Healthy New Year and I am the one who ended up at A. and E. with a suspect cracked bone in my ankle. Luckily it wasn't but am still limping badly. Hope it doesn't affect the voice so as long as I can get from car to the Billet we shall be enjoying our first session of the year this Thursday and hope to see you all there.

Oh dear, February reminder was missed due to the three score year and ten birthday two days later. The party was phenominal with singers and musicians and friends from Edinburgh to Stoke Poges and all points in between descending.

Now it is time to remind all and sundry that we shall not be meeting on Thursday this week but Friday for the all playing all singing St. Patrick's Day festival and the luck of the Irish to all.

Back to Thursday and looking forward to a good turn out and lots of singing and dancing. The fella watched Titanic the other day and I bet he can't play Jack's olka that fast!

Sorry not to have posted before but the concrete laying workmen arrived and it is far too hot for me anyway. Despite holidays we had a really good session with Musket and Rookery making their annual guest appearance. Good to see you lads and a good night was enjoyed by all. Perhaps they will come more often now! See you all next month.

We shall be there this Thursday but with holidays and weddings it looks like numbers will be depleted. Oh well, we shall enjoy ourselves and will welcome all and sundry.

Always a joy.

Can't make it this month, sadly. Thursdays are quite busy at the moment.
