I have lyrics and melody to:
Alabama Waltz
Connecticut Waltz (which I wrote)
Kentucky Waltz
Missouri Waltz
Tennessee Waltz and Brand New Tennessee Waltz
Virginia Waltz

I'm looking for waltzes from other states with the state name in the title. Anyone know any?

We think Beautiful Ohio is a waltz but we can't remember it well enough to be sure. Also, there's Waltz Across Texas With You.

There's Tom Paxton's, "Home Sweet Oklahoma", and "The Oklahoma Waltz", by our own (Ok City Traditional Music Assn) Teresa Black.

I'm don't think there is a Florida Waltz...Probably just as well. It would have to be done in 8/4 time to keep up with the steps involved with stomping on roaches and dodging gators, not to mention the 'Red-kneed, camera-toting' tourist. Never understood why they call it tourist 'season' but they won't let ya hunt 'em......

Thanks to everyone so far. "Beautiful Ohio" is indeed a waltz, as I found on this site with state songs for all 50 US states:
http://www.50states.com/songs/

I also found Greg Brown's "Iowa Waltz" lyrics at:
http://www.wing.net/gbrown/gbiowaw1.html
and a clip of the song itself at:
http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/SID=496667615/pagename=/RP/CDN/FIND/album.html/ArtistID=BROWN*GREG/itemid=307650

I'd love to hear more. Couldn't find the Oklahoma or Texas Waltz. Anyone got midis? We sometimes do a medley of waltzes, and Alabama and Tennessee go well together.

Here's Indiana.

Indiana Waltz - Jack Scott

Beneath the stars, we heard two guitars
Play the Indiana Waltz
And just by chance, I asked you to dance
To the Indiana Waltz.

I loved you then, my heart stood still.
I love you now, I always will.
I'll thank the stars and playing guitars
    For the Indiana Waltz.

I held you near, my heart stood still.
I love you now, I always will.
I'll thank the stars and playing guitars
    For the Indiana Waltz.

Texas Waltz is on Nathan Abshire's "French Blues" CD and performed by The Red Headed Fiddlers on "Texas Fiddle Bands, vol. 1, 1925-1930". We carry 'em both at Camsco.

I think Greg Brown's "Iowa Waltz" is a classic. Somebody mentioned it above. I think it's worth posting the lyrics.

IOWA WALTZ
(Greg Brown) © 1981, Brownstreet Music.

Home in the midst of the corn, in the middle of the USA
Here's where I was born, here's where I'm going to stay
(chorus)
Iowa, Iowa, winter spring summer and fall
Come and see, come dance with me to the beautiful Iowa Waltz.
We take care of our old, take care of our young, and make hay while the sun shines
Growing our crops and singing our songs from planting until harvest time.

D Db D G D - A / D Db D G DAD -

(chorus)
G - D - E A - / " /

I could imagine somebody singing the original version of Beautiful Ohio, but the revised official one... oh dear.

No waltz for the District of Columbia?

Banjo man Tony Ellis wrote the beautiful "Ohio Waltz" and recorded it on his Quaker Girl CD. Key of C.

Also, Bruce Greene recorded "Indiana Waltz" on his Vintage Fiddle Tunes recording. His brief notes on the tune say "This rare old country waltz is from Ellis Voorhies of Battle, Kentucky." Key of D.

It's not technically the full name of a state but how about "Carolina Moon"?

Found music for the Arizona Waltz, a great tune apparently written by Rex Allen, but can't find the lyrics.

There's Russel Fluharty's 'West Virginia Waltz' and a Clyde Moody tune also called 'WVW' Not sure if they are the same tune, I've only heard the hammer dulcimer tune by RF.

I missed this the first time around. Louie Roy mentioned the Arkansas Waltz.    I do not know if Cletus Jones' Arkansas Waltz is the same one he had in mind but Jones' Waltz is sort of the official state waltz. Arkansas legislators have a lot of time on their hands and so there are a lot of "state" things (waltz, dance, music instrument, rock, etc. We even have a state song, and state anthem, as well as a state waltz. I do not have the music handy, but Jones recorded the waltz twice on one album, with the Arkansas Waltz and the last chance to hear the Arkansas Waltz. He has waltzed around the state a bit promoting his state waltz and even found himself here in Mountain View on occasion.

Here is a link to an Arkansas Times story on Jones and the Waltz.
