I'm travelling from SW England to Western Scotland in early September, staying on the Ardnamurchan peninsula for a week or so.

Anyone know of any sessions, arts/music festivals or other music events happening around that area, including Mull?

thanks
Sue

If you're near Glasgow on Sunday 18th September, there's a Ballad Workshop with guests Tom and Margaret Spiers (from Aberdeenshire). PM me if you're interested and I'll give you all the details.

If you're passing through Balloch en route (south end of Loch Lomond, about 25 miles from Glasgow) then the Friends of Celtic Music Radio are hosting "Folk on the Boat" - a fundraising concert on the Maid of the Loch, on Friday 9th September. 9 performers or groups will be appearing.

More info: Folk on the Boat or search for us on Facebook.

EKanne - sounds good, but have to be back home around 11th.

Guest - any details, links, etc? how would I find it?

Bruce - sounds like a great event, but we're not leaving Ardnamurchan til 10th, so doesn't quite fit... shame...

Thank you all so much! and any more is welcome.

Sue

Sorry you can't manage Glasgow, Sue.
For Oban, try Skippinish Ceilidh in your search. This is run by graduates of the Scottish Music course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and is very popular -- great musicians, dancing, singing, and lots of good fun from all reports. As far as I know, there's music every night of the season.
