Years ago I camped on the clifftop next to the lighthouse. The foghorn was going all night.

When the time came to leave the car wouldn't start and we had to push-start it, towards the cliff edge. Did I mention the brakes were dodgy? Fortunately it started, and stopped.

Try Herstone leisure short walk into town.

Festival Director John Butcher posted this on the official Facebook page yesterday.

'Can I just say we have had a lot of enquiries regarding accommodation in Swanage for the festival. There are probably some odd rooms left but basically accom has sold out. The Demon Barbers are heading next years festival. so if its your sort of concert please book early'

Herston leisure is fully booked, it's being used as the artists campsite this year, and friends tried to book on there last week without success.

The advice from the festival organisers to our friends was that you will need to look out of town and be prepared for a drive in. Hope you find somewhere.

John.

Gratiuitous plug coming up: If you do make it, come and see the Bounty Hounds, Festival marquee, Sandpit field, Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

We've never been to Swanage, but we considered going this year, cos some of our friends are going, but we were already committed to Bromyard. Now I'm glad we are going to Bromyard, because the Hop Pole is open again and there are usually good sessions there.

So if you are weighing up where to go, I'd choose Bromyard. Of course it's further if you're coming from Somerset, but that's where we are coming from, so it's do-able. Not sure about accommodation, as we always stay at our favourite B&B, which we book the year before. I believe there is a campsite very close, and it's firm and dry they say too - not like some other years.

Having said that, you can't go wrong with a Kitty and Derek session, if you want a good sing. That's one good thing about Swanage :)

We'll probably give Swanage a go one year, Banjiman - just not this year. There are lots of festivals we haven't been to yet! Considering I've only been officially living in this country for just over a year, with 4 months in 2009 and 2 weeks in 2008, I think we're doing pretty well :)

Depends what you mean by sessions. Dunno about music sessions, but the singarounds with Kitty and Derek in the Red Lion are bound to be good!

Belatedly, I mention that Met Office Inshore has F6-F7 overnight. Is that the bit of the Beaufort Scale where camper-vans start rocking?

I'm not there for various reasons, content to be at home getting over a throat infection.
