Subject: RE: Upcoming Events - UK (PermaThread) From: GUEST Date: 25 Jun 12 - 02:08 PM Rare chance to work with founder of the Natural Voice Network and Community Music doyenne Frankie Armstrong in London, June 2012 Saturday June 30: Free your voice with inspirational voice worker Frankie Armstrong. Frankie has been singing professionally since 1964 and started the Community Music singing movement by inspiring the setting up of the Natural Voice network (www.naturalvoice.net). All abilities very welcome especially if you've been told you can't sing – Frankie will prove you can! Frankie usually works in Cardiff & abroad– don't miss this rare opportunity to catch her in London. Date: Saturday 30th June 2012, 11am-4pm with one hour lunchbreak. Venue: Holy Innocents Church Hall, Selhurst Rd , near South Norwood Library, SE25. Transport: Holy Innocents Church Hall is close to Norwood Junction rail station. Buses 75, 157 and 410 also stop outside the Church Hall. Prices: Earlybird: Book in advance for the earlybird price of £31.50 for the day or pro-rata for half day. Concessions: £25 for the day or pro-rata for half day if your household income is under £16k or you are on benefits*. On the door: £35 for the full day – no concessions. Programme: Morning 11am-1pm: The joy of singing (communal) – we start with simple body loosening and voice exercises. These lead into ways of playing with creative vocal expression. We create a supportive, easy-going and playful atmosphere, with an approach of exploration rather than 'getting it right'. Lunch: 1-2pm: tea and coffee provided. Please bring your own lunch or lunch to share (optional) Afternoon 2-4pm: Song Interpretation for soloists and choirs Inspired by dance and using Laban's ideas, Frankie shares with us an innovative application of Laban's ideas to song interpretation to help you make any song your own, whether as a soloist or as part of a group. No need to sing on your own in this session, though there may be opportunities for those who want to. Call Catherine Pestano on 07981 298 541 or email catherine@naturalvoice.net |

Subject: Upcoming Events - UK From: Joe Offer Date: 02 Nov 11 - 04:25 PM I've been getting e-mail requests from people wishing to promote music events. I used to reply that we'd rather have people join Mudcat and post the information themselves. Maybe it's better just to post the information, and then I'll delete it when it's out of date. I may use this to replace the "What's On" thread, which was simply too hard to maintain. I will delete all posts to this thread when they are a month to six weeks old, so please don't post anything here that you want to be permanent. Feel free to post any UK event information in this thread. Be sure to include date, place, time, and contact information. I'll start threads for other countries if there's a need for it. Just let me know. If you are a venue or performer with a recurring need to post concert/performance information, consider asking me for a PermaThread that you can maintain yourself. -Joe- Folk Clubs & Acoustic Music Clubs In the UK(check out this great link)
