Subject: The Gatty Folk-Song Collection From: Paul Davenport Date: 07 Nov 11 - 12:43 PM Tuesday 8th November @ the Gallery, The Old Market, Rotherham 7.30pm Paul & Liz Davenport will give an illustrated talk on this small but exquisite collection of songs from South Yorkshire. The collection, made in 1907 by Reginald Gatty accompanied by Ralph Vaughan-Williams, is made up of around 50 songs from a number of local singers. The material is rich, varied and almost unknown! We are preparing a publication for 2012 to highlight this important contribution to the canon of traditional song. Come along for a taster! |
