Just saw a youtube video where Johnny Cash describes the tune as a response to Nashville always saying..."Hank's rolling in his grave at the state of country music"...but the way I read the song Waylons sort of saying exactly that. With nudie suits and cadilacs etc...sort of an extention of Lukenbak TX... What do yall thnk? Also add "Dolly" by Elizabeth Cook. and possibly, though a bit of a stretch, "It Takes Balls to be a Woman" by Elizabeth Cook because of the line: Look at Dolly and Loretta, they still live it to the letter Oh, sometimes it takes balls to be a woman |
