Keep'm comin Mudders. This is great!

I love Waylon's song too Bobert. It's a strange one though. Just saw a youtube video where Johnny Cash describes the tune as a response to Nashville always saying..."Hank's rolling in his grave at the state of country music"...but the way I read the song Waylons sort of saying exactly that. With nudie suits and cadilacs etc...sort of an extention of Lukenbak TX...
What do yall thnk?

MORE SONGS PLEASE

Tonight i've found some damn doosies in NEW NEW country:

this is country music- brad paisley

what country is- luke bryan

a little more country- easton corbin

I love David Allen Coe's "Longhaired Redneck."

Country DJs say that I'm an outlaw.
They'd never come to see me in this dive,
Where bikers stare at cowboys
Who are laughin' at the hippies
Who are prayin' they'll get out of here alive...

Peter

Leonard by Merle Haggard

but Leonard was a name he never used."

16th Avenue, Leonard, Old Soldier; great songs. Should have thought of them myself, and would have eventually.

Also add "Dolly" by Elizabeth Cook.

and possibly, though a bit of a stretch, "It Takes Balls to be a Woman" by Elizabeth Cook because of the line:

Look at Dolly and Loretta, they still live it to the letter
Oh, sometimes it takes balls to be a woman

Hank Williams, you wrote my life (sung by Moe Bandy)
Hony Tonk Music written by George Hawke recorded by Hoyt Axton and Jerry Jeff Walker (on separate occasions - and in my opinion the best song about being a gigging musician ever written.

I didn't read the whole thread, so my apologies if I'm repeating previous suggestions.

Keepin' It Country -- Jake Owen
Everything Is Fine -- Josh Turner
Made In America -- Toby Keith
These Are My People -- Rodney Atkins
Where I'm From -- Jason Michael Carroll
Country Boy's World -- Jason Aldean
Fly Over States -- Jason Aldean
What Country Is -- Luke Bryan
We Rode In Trucks -- Luke Bryan
This Is Country Music -- Brad Paisley (I'm sure someone else has mentioned this one)

These are all of the "new" country music strain...

Oh, and "Pledge Allegiance to the Hag", by Eric Church, feat. Merle Haggard. Can't believe I forgot that one.

"they say country's fading / but we're still waving / that flag 'round here"

Country Music by Marie-Lynn Hammond, recorded by Stringband, I think in the 1970s. Still a favourite of mine.
