Subject: RE: American Patchwork From: GUEST,Hootenanny Date: 29 Nov 11 - 05:42 PM Are you referring to the banjo piece at the beginning of Lomax's Patchwork programmes? If so I believe the musician is Sheila Kaye Adams and I think the tune is Paddy on the Railroad. You could probably check it out with her or someone at the Lomax Archives. Hoot |

Subject: RE: American Patchwork From: GUEST,Captain Farrell Date: 30 Nov 11 - 05:40 AM Checked out paddy on the railroad on you tube this is not the one I mean that`s a jig the tune I want is in 4/4 played on banjo or dulcimer.Any more thoughts. |
Subject: RE: American Patchwork From: GUEST,Hootenanny Date: 30 Nov 11 - 09:52 AM Bear in mind that many tunes share titles and many titles are used for different tunes and often tunes are played at a different tempo. The music that I refer to was played on banjo at the beginning of Lomax's Patchwork quilt programmes. I have been playing it for years on banjo in G modal. Definitely not a jig version. Hoot |
Subject: RE: American Patchwork From: GUEST,Hootenanny Date: 30 Nov 11 - 10:00 AM I just went to you tube put in Paddy on the Turnpike, banjo. The 4th on the list came up with a version which is similar I believe to what you want. The poster was jbbvideonetwork. Hoot |
