As part of its rapid expansion of online resources, the Irish Traditional Music Archive has started to publish some videos it has made in its own studio over the years. This includes a fine recording of Jim MacFarland (who often visits Mudcat) singing "In the year of 1800". Not sure the video element adds much (sorry, Jim!) but it is, IMHO, singing of a very high order.

I got this emigration song from the late Jimmy Houghton who lived in the Isle of Doagh, Inishown Co. Donegal. The correct name is "The Pride of Movile Town"and it's on my cd "A Taste of Tradition".
