Subject: Little Butch From: Caliga Date: 29 Apr 97 - 11:01 PM My 78 year old mother would like to find a song that was popular when her first child was small. It was about "Little Butch, with the sparkling eyes." She nicknamed her first son that, and it stuck. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Little Butch From: Jim Dixon Date: 21 Jun 11 - 06:47 PM Billboard Magazine says that Harry Owens and His Royal Hawaiians (with vocal by Bob Hamlin) recorded a song called LITTLE BUTCH, released as a 78-rpm record, Capitol 20004, around September, 1944, b/w SWEET LEILANI, ASCAP.com says Harry Owens wrote it. I haven't heard the song, so that's all I can provide. (Note that I am reviving a very old thread here.) |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Little Butch From: GUEST,Lost in Washington Date: 16 Sep 13 - 02:38 AM I vaguely remember a segment of the lyrics went like this "I can picture the scene very clearly, the long night was over or nearly; it's a boy you can be proud of; 7 pounds, 7 ounces; Little Butch, the thrill of it forever will remain" memory fade "thats the story little Butch, Goodnight" at this point my memory competely fades sorry |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Little Butch From: GUEST Date: 16 Sep 13 - 09:10 AM Q. In 1949 when my son was born, I heard a record that I think was called Little Butch. I hope you can help me get a copy of it. Thank you. -- Theresa Serra, Sunrise A. Little Butch was written in 1949 by band leader and composer Harry Owens, who was the chief exponent of Hawaiian music in the `30s and `40s. I was unable to locate Owens` recording of it, but did find a recording, on tape, by Frankie Masters and his Orchestra, titled Little Butch, The Beach Boy that might be the same tune. It is available at Arnold`s Archives, 1106 Eastwood Ave. SE, East Grand Rapids, Mich. 49506; 1-616-949-1398. Subject: ADD: Little Butch From: GUEST,Neil Date: 15 Jun 21 - 11:19 PM LITTLE BUTCH Music and Lyrics: Hal Owen There’s a brand new little fellow With a sparkle in his eye And smile on his lips divine Got a mighty funny nose But his cheek is like a rose And he’s mine, all mine Little Butch they say you’re such a funny little guy I think they’ve overlooked the merry twinkle in your eye Your smile that tells the world there’s still a sun up in the sky Way up high Way up high Little Butch they’ve never walked the floor with you at night Or sang of love filled stars above grew weary in their flight Or said a prayer while trusting little arms with all their might Held me tight Held me tight I can picture the scene very clearly The long night is over or nearly It’s a boy the nurse announces Seven pounds, seven ounces Little Butch the thrill of it forever will ever remain Through misty eyes I looked at you are all caught in the rain A bluebird on a hilltop sang a song of loves delight That’s the story Little Butch good night That’s the story Little Butch good night |
