Subject: Favourite love songs From: Bert Date: 18 Dec 11 - 10:02 PM I was looking at the "Most beautiful song ever written" and got to thinking that there are many songs that don't quite qualify but could be posted in this thread. One of my favorites is Bestest friend |

Subject: RE: Favorite love songs From: Baz Bowdidge Date: 19 Dec 11 - 12:02 PM What is a true love song? One that stays true to the cause throughout I guess. Many love songs rely on the drama of loving and losing - Sweet Thames Flows Softly is a prime example. Is 'Bestest Friend' a spoof of Dr Hook because I'd give Dr Hook's 'If Not You' maybe 5/10? A few years ago a Valentine's Day CD came out called 'Beautiful'. The compilers missed the point that Christine Agulera's title track was about regaining self-esteem after abuse! Not folk but this rendition of 'When I Give My Love To You' gets me every time: Michael Franks & Veronica Nunn Here |

Subject: RE: Favorite love songs From: Elmore Date: 19 Dec 11 - 02:37 PM Attn : BB I respectfully reject your gratuitous narrowing of the term "love Song." Some of the most beautiful, poignant love songs are those of unrequited or unconsummated love. One that comes to mind is titled "Do You Think That I Do Not Know?" (Lawson/Dusty) sung by Priscilla Herdman on her album, " Water Lilies." I heard her sing this live several times, and each time it took my breath away. I'd give you the lyrics, but I am the world's slowest typist. |
