IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER
by Erma Bombeck

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television-and more while watching life.

I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband.

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."

There would have been more "I love you's".. more "I'm sorry's" ... but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute...look at it and really see it ... live it...and never give it back.

Stop sweating the small stuff. who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who Do love us.

Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with. And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally, as well as spiritually. Life is too short to let it pass you by.

We only have one shot at this and then it's gone. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

-In memory of Erma Bombeck who lost her fight with cancer.

Lighten Up KatL

sincerely, Horst W.

Why don't you go and do a search on Gargoyle, as well as _gargoyle and then come back and see if Kat should lighten up. The good woman didn't respond to the viciousness for quite a while. If you are going to take time to judge other people's actions, at least be well informed. And if your intent was to help, which I suspect it was not, then do so in a private message.

Mick

Looks like some mighty good advice from Ms. Bombeck. However, I agree, its not music and probably belongs in a private message.

I'm with Jeri. Wasn't there a thread a while back with lyrics to a song called "Horst Wasser (-sel?)" that had offensive lyrics and turned out to have been posted by gargoyle using a pseudonym?

People: thank you very much but please don't keep this one going. A search on the name Horst reveals one posting, ever, this one. It is obviously Gg.

Cara, I recall something like that, too.

Yeah Cara, that's Horst, as in Horst Wessel...And Kat, didja' also notice that this is Malcom's first and only post? Whadda' guy.....talks to himself too.

I know this one needs to die, but the boy has certainly achieved his goal hasn't he? He has lots of Catters now second guessing every posting. Maybe he can use a different one next time like "B.P. Listoput"---Bi-Polar Little Stone Putz.

I assume its OK to talk of him here since this is his thread.

Who edited the title of this thread? Joe, was that you? A disturbing trend regardless of who did it. I know it read "KatL" earlier today.
Kat, as far as I know, thread titles cannot be edited - although I suppose Max has a way he can do it himself. I'm posting here so I don't prolong the life of the thread.

I can imagine the howls of outrage if this had read G G lighten up! Once again, I would add that after briefly visiting at least a dozen (I'm still having fun with it) sites with vox populi, Mudcat's still lookin' pretty good.

Ah Mudcat! This place is a little like living in an old fashion boarding house you know when you go away for a while somebody rearranges the furniture and upon return you get disoriented and bump your knee on a table comments are interesting but rather coded what's this thread all about?

as a fringer I've never suspected KL of being uptight! (and Kat if you are uptight about something - join the club!) I particulary like repeated comments about not keeping the thread alive what a wonderfully mixed message! best wishes from a confused observer f

Dear Frank, We have a Rumpelstilskin-like black fairy at this party who (as far as I can tell) got a sort of bad Nietzschean idea in his head that getting people mad is somehow a fruitful way of interacting, and so delights in childishly making a range of not very subtle, and not friendly digs at people here. Since most Mudcatters (including Kat) have good antennae for jokes made in fun, and also those made with malevolent intent, we have basically been taking the oxygen away from this particular fire by trying to ignore its crumminess. It appears that the person, if it is he, who was warned off this kind of behaviour previously after he started spraying Nazi rhetoric around (ain't confrontation grand!), has taken to trying new names with real subtlety like Horst. It goes in waves: sometimes we think some attempt to be reasonable returns, and then it sours again. We don't know why, and no longer really care. It is just annoying. Don't waste your eyeballs on this thread any further. There are better rooms in this boarding house. (
yours, Peter T.
