Subject: Yodeling Slim Clark info needed please From: GUEST,Paul Hazell Date: 01 Jan 12 - 06:59 PM Can anyone help me please to date Slim Clark's recordings? Most of his records had no dates and discographies are incomplete. I am in touch with his family, who are helping. If anyone out there knows dates of his early albums your help would be greatly appreciated |

Subject: RE: Yodeling Slim Clark info needed please From: GUEST,Paul Hazell Date: 01 Jan 12 - 07:37 PM Hi Kendall yes, I know you were a long time friend. I am a UK friend of Kenny Roberts and Kenny introduced me to Slim. I have been speaking with Kathie and Jewel but at the moment, the dates of recordings and dates of issue of some of the old pre-Palomino albums are quite important to a project i am doing and they don't have the necessary details. I really need to make contact with a collector who bought the albums as they were released. Would you be able to help? |
Subject: RE: Yodeling Slim Clark info needed please From: kendall Date: 02 Jan 12 - 08:05 AM Sorry, I can't. Slim was recording for Palomino when I first met him back in 1950. |
Subject: RE: Yodeling Slim Clark info needed please From: Thomas Stern Date: 02 Jan 12 - 01:26 PM Yodeling Slim Clark began recording around 1946 for CONTINENTAL RECORDS (these are 78rpm records). There are a number of online sources for information - such as BILLBOARD magazine, many issues are available via Google Books. There is a website devoted to REMINGTON Records which reissued many of his 78rpm releases on LP. Please provide some information about your project, and the amount of detail you are looking for. Best wishes, Thomas. |

Subject: RE: Yodeling Slim Clark info needed please From: GUEST,Paul Hazell Date: 27 Feb 12 - 07:06 PM Apologies to all and thank you for your ideas, I have been away from the forum for a few weeks but in the meantime we have made a lot of progress. The project will be a 2CD set of Continental and Wheeling recordings of Slim including many tracks never released except on original 78s and 45s. I am currently writing liner notes and am trying to ascertain who the writer credits should be for some of the songs. If anyone can help, the songs we don't know for sure are: Queen Of The Rockies The Big Stampede The Girl I Left Behind Me Ol' Zebra Dun Git Along To The Big Corral The Blue Tail Fly I'm Riding Ol' Paint I've Got No Use Fopr The Women Yellow Rose Of Texas Billy Venero Texas In The Spring Just Riding On Memories The Fox The Cowboy's Dream The Swiss Yodeling Cowboy Whoopy Ti Yi Yo When I Ride The Range Of Gold So Dear To Me Sleepy Time Yodel The Abilene Drive The original records gave no credits - I suspect some are "Traditional", some may have been written by Slim or his fiorst wife, Celia but I can't be sure. Can anyone help please? |
