Thanks for asking, Maeve. I am smarting, to be honest, and it makes me unhappy to consider that truthfully there are people who are far worse off than I feel just now. Grateful, though, for Mudcat and the members in it. And hoping that the first week at home, post-surgery, has been an encouraging one for Rapparee and spouse: Keep on keeping on there.

keberoxu- Sorry, you'll have to go elsewhere for an argument. We have offered support to many people known and unknown. This is not like some other threads here.

How are you?

For what it's worth, Wysiwyg did post to Jane's Rainbow....in January of 2012. She has most certainly been there for others at Mudcat.

That's thoughtful. She doesn't post here at all, nor is it usually possible for her to access. We are always mindful of those in need, even when they are not part of this small caring community on board Jane's Rainbow.

If Wysiwyg were able, I reckon she would be adding frequent posts to this thread. I don't really know her but I can see from previous threads that she has been through the mangle, and then some. So I am sending supportive comforting thoughts along to Wysiwyg and her extended household/family.

AND it was Stage 0! Granted, there were two types and that's why the treatment was so aggressive -- and that this is the fourth and fifth types of cancer in her life. Some people collect stamps....

We got the path report and saw the surgeon today. Pat has to go back in a couple of weeks.

The report said that there was no indication of any of the cancerous cells had metastasized, and that's VERY good news.

Still, she's weak and recovering from a very major surgery. She has told me to go out of town for a doings back in Illinois next week, and I must obey. However, a good friend is coming to stay with her from the 16th to the 26th -- I'll be gone from the 18th to the 24th. If the path report or the doctor hadn't been so upbeat I wouldn't be leaving regardless of my orders.

She collapsed like a marionette with cut strings going to and from the bathroom last night, but two nurses were there to catch her. No similar problems since. Just a headache and pains associated with such surgery.

IF all goes well tonight she may come home tomorrow. Home health care, physical therapy, and occupational therapy have all been laid on already. We have a walker and a shower chair from her head injury 18 months ago and I have them all ready to go.

Good thoughts are greatly appreciated.

She was in surgery about an hour and a half and another couple hours in recovery. The surgeon thinks he got it all -- no spread -- but of course the pathology report is the final word. She'll be in overnight and possibly tomorrow night as well.

When I had been up for 14 hours she told me to leave and not come back until someone called or tomorrow morning, whichever came first.

NB, male and female: If you ever need a series of shots about the nipple have them give you at least local anesthesia. Pat, with her very very high pain threshold, rated it without any as 20 out of 10. The doctors, when they found out, said that new excretory orifices will be torn open without anesthesia. Apparently Pat wasn't the first.
