A very good Monday morning to all our Dear Friends from Ann & Nigel in a warmer, sunnier (although the rain is still lurking in the background), East London.

Without your Love, Support & Words of Wisdom, getting through the last fifteen months would have been immeasurably more difficult & painful. That a group of people, scattered hither & yon around the globe could have such a profound effect is nothing short of miraculous (Not a word I use lightly or regularly!). Our gratitude is boundless & our Love for All of You, constant.

Looking forward to our continuing voyage in a few days time,
                                                 With Love,
                                                                Nigel & Ann.

Sounds better kat and I agree with you on Nigel and Ann.

A note on me as an update. I start another round of Vidaza next week and after the last one I don't look forward to it but on the other hand..........My hemoglobin has actually gone up twice since then but I credit the blood for the first raise. I was at 9.2 last week and was hoping to drop less than a few tenths this week. Today my red count was up (!!!) just a bit and my hemoglobin has gone UP to 9.6!    Seems significant to me and the best thing we've seen. We'll see what happens next week and I don't want to get too excited but DAMN!!! Maybe all those "Ups" are catching up with the Aronesp. I see the Doc next week........cross your fingers.

I know the endgame to this is a complete loser but I'm going to keep my pieces on the board as long as possible!

Thanks all!

Spaw

Let's anchor the boat in a lovely cove for a little while and all jump out and go skinny dipping!

....Or at least have a picnic on a bright sunny rock and watch the birds and sea lions.

One of the fun things to do around here (Juneau, Alaska) is to cruise around in a boat and watch the sea lions hauled out on some sunny, rocky beach. It is a real community: bellowing, muttering, burping, quarreling, some aggression and lots of hurt feelings. But there is also a real feeling of peace, the knowledge that they are in just the right place.

Special healing thoughts for my Dearest Friend, Spaw. The motto of the Paterson/Patterson clan is: 'Huc Tendimus Omnes', which translates as: 'We all Strive for This'. I know you are striving, Pat. I'm sure all those who care for you are striving too; striving to make you well & allaying your fears.
Holding You in our Loving Thoughts,

Hope those O2 levels are going up, Spawzer. Am I correct in assuming these treatments happen over several days and that you have been staying with Connie again? Hope you are getting rest and good sleep.

Sun or shade, this magic place has plenty of either and great companionship all around.

Nigel and Ann, come rest a bit among your good companions.

Yes, Janie, it's rest we need. I think the phrase: 'Running on empty' just about sums things up. With Jane's funeral behind us now, we have had to change tack into house moving mode. Not us, Jane's Family. Since their return from Dubai, they have been living in rented accommodation until their own house, (which they had rented out), became vacant. To save money, we've done the job ourselves: moving, cleaning, repairing, decorating etc, etc. A number of friends have 'put their shoulders to the wheel' which has been a great help. Apart from a few small bits & pieces, I'm pleased to report that it's very nearly Job Done! Money saved, but large amounts of energy expended. I'm glad they have returned to this particular house. It is full of happy memories, great parties & wonderful Family Gatherings.
So, in Janie's words, Ann & I would like to: ".....come rest a bit among our good companions".
                   With Love,
                                  Nigel & Ann.

Moving... big job. But, physical toil is good for the soul as well as the body. When it's done with family and friends, even more so. Enjoy the rest.

Up yours Spaw.

Feet up and rest, Nigel and Ann,

I have just managed to rent my mother's bungalow out to bring her in some much needed income to spend on extra care. I thought clearing everything ( her personal possessions and bedroom furniture all came with her to our house two years ago, but all the other furniture was in situ!)and then decorating would be easy to do ourselves and save money!!

It is only a two bedroom bungalow but that is a lot of magnolia paint!! I also thought sticky back plastic in all the kitchen cupboards would be a doddle...... bring back Blue Peter please! Then we had to put in a new bathroom , the 70's blue doesnt turn the renters on! New bedroom carpets and hours polishing the parquet floors in the sitting and dining rooms completed and someone moved in last week, now Billy and I need a rest too!

So cushions out on deck, who is ready for a Pimms?

With love

Wendy

Wendy, I like the idea of cushions on the deck, but could you find me a non-alcoholic version of the Pimms please!
Max, welcome aboard. Your sympathy & condolences are graciously accepted.
ChanteyLass, by the powers invested in me, I pronounce you 'ChanteyLady'. Arise, ChanteyLady, your People await you!

It's a beautiful sunny morning here in London. Quite chilly, but perfect for the Marathon Runners. Much Love & healing thoughts to the bereaved & injured of Boston at this time.

We are actually having a spring here. Haven't had one in at least several years. It was either a late winter turning into summer or vicey versey. Two years ago, we went from winter to HOT in less than a week in early May. When it's sunny, it's cool (frost this AM). When it's rainy, it's warm and muggy even tho the temp is only in the high teens. I assume the "muggy" at such temperatures is only because it hasn't been muggy since last fall. When one gets chapped lips and knuckles from the dry cold for several months, muggy is a "feels like" kinda thang eh? And, I live in 40/40 country... that's windchill/humidex (+-40 C).

Hope all a youse are doin as best yas can.

A friend just put this on Facebook. I just sat there and melted down.

As to the thread, yes to including Jane's name. I would suggest enlisting the help of a mod to enable an extended title, that new people can recognize for what it is, such as "Jane's Rainbow: a thread for all those in need of support and comfort"

Some better around here each day. I think this is a well deserved break of sorts but don't forget to update and keep us posted on yourself and/or friends and relatives you have talked about here.

For me...........

Second round of Vidaza started today. Last week my hemoglobin had risen to 9.6 and I had my usual Aronesp shot. After feeling so damn bad it was nice to feel a bit better. I looked back at some past records and found that a year ago my Hemoglobin had been at 9.8 during a routine physical (there is nothing routine when you have all the weird crap going on that I do) I was at 9.8 back then so this was also some good news to have at least gottten back there. I have felt pretty good all week and my color is greatly improved.

Today I met with the Doc after the lab tests and found that I would NOT get an Aronesp shot today because you can't take Aronesp if your Hemoglobin is above 10.3-4 and mine is at 10.5! Can you believe this shit? 10.5! I wanted to kiss everybody I met. My white count was within range for the first time, my red count was up, my platelets while still low actually doubled. I will do this week on the Vidaza regimen and be in for regular blood work next monday. As Vidaza kills red blood cells as it works, I figure two things. First I might hopefully get through this round better by starting higher and second, this seems to actually enhance the Aronesp and the weekly shots are effective at least more than before.

So now we get through this week and see where we are next Monday and the follwing Mondays for 4 weeks and evaluate again prior to round three. I don't want to get too excited. Like I said, I know this game is a loser but I'm going to keep playing the board as long as I can.

Thanks to all of you for the UPS! Great folks on a great thread. Let's hear from some others if you have any news not posted.

My Dear Spaw, that is the best news I've heard in a long time...really lifted my spirits. Clearly you, your docs & the drugs have all been striving in their own particular way. You are on the way UP!

There is a growing consensus that the new title of our thread should include Jane's name. That would be my wish too. Dean's suggestion: "Jane's Rainbow: a thread for all those in need of support and comfort" has considerable appeal. I'll write to Joe for guidance, but in the meantime, Joe, if you're reading this, any words of wisdom?

An acrostic for Spaw:       U nique
                                       P edagogic
                                       S cintillating
                                       P ulsating
