tommy caught another chest infection and was ambulanced to hospital yesterday, dangerously poorly but thankfully is greatly improved today. from past experience we know this can be deceptively encouraging. please God the doctors don't discharge him too soon.

Fer Pete and all...

Haulin in NF!

I absolutely love that short version. Did sommat like that with me on Hran and two buddies singin along one very drunken night on George Street (look it up) in St. John's, NF and got asked to do it three more times that night. (Ya gotta understand that, on George Street, as local legend has it, there are more pubs per inch of street than anywhere else in the world. That being said, FEW people stop in at any one pub for more than two drinks at most but many visit many pubs so the turnover allows what I said above about being invited up on stage to do a particular tune multiple times. I didn't mind... hey, you entertain, ya get a free drink on the house and maybe three from the patrons! Maybe that's why I am old before my time?) Ahhh, memories.

Wendy and VTam, my heart goes out to both of you, and to Billy, too, of course.

I don't know how much those slipper-like shoes cost, but it sounds like physical comfort would be good for you if you can handle the price. I hope your position does not disappear.

Sorry I haven't been commenting. I have been reading the thread. Brain often not functioning well enough to compose anything useful beyond, you guys and your experiences do touch my thoughts even when I am not actively reading the thread.

On the Tam front - Apparently I have developed an asthma type reaction to the beta blocker Bisoprolol Fumarate. Itchy lungs and coughing so bad this past week my chest and back muscles are sore. This happened before. Going to GP tomorrow.

Still can't shift the swelling in my feet. The right one in particular. So evidently the beta blocker hasn't helped with that problem. Must force myself to by the ugly slipper like shoes so I can at least keep going to work.

One good thing. Very little angina pain the last couple of weeks.

On the work front - should I invest in the shoes as I may be made redundant (AGAIN) just before Christmas. Gotta love how Local Authorities time their restructures.

Eldergirl, welcome on board,

you got it, the crew here are the most wonderful group of loving people you could ever want to meet.

Billy has been very unwell for the last few days, high fever and in bed.He insisted on going to the family party last weekend and has been very unwell since. We saw his consultant Wednesday and he said it is unrelated to his leukemia, all his blood results are good, but he has a virus?

So, what with running the business, looking after Billy and mum, I am going to have a very large glass of white wine, and try and sleep. Tomorrow is Sunday and I hope to have a day of, sort of, rest!!
Don't often admit it but I am shattered, lost count of how many times I have run up the stairs, so why am I not thin??

Hoping for a good nights sleep resting in my hammock

Love to all this wonderful crew

Wendy xxxx

I'll do my best but it would be more difficult without your suport.

Wendy, I'm pleased to read that your trip went so well. I hope that you are able to do more outings. I had seen on Facebook's Mudcat page that you (at least I thought it was you) had something you wanted to post here, so I was concerned, but now I'm relieved. I wondered who else might be needing this thread. It's good to meet all of you here again.

I guess just about everyone remembers where they were at the time. I was driving a truck round the London orbital motorway when I heard it on the radio. it took some time before I realized that this was actually happening as cindy kent was relaying what was happening. at first I thought premier radio was broadcasting a drama - such was the unbelievable horror - of what was being relayed.

lovely account of your trip, wendy.
blessings all. pete.

Good morning, just put a pot of coffee on if you would like to join me....

we were away for the weekend celebrating my cousin's 70th birthday. We took mother and stayed overnight, the first time we have taken her away for two and a half years!Must admit I was rather nervous to see how she would cope being in a different house, 200 miles in the car, and comfort stops at the motorway services. (But she met Pudsey bear at Fleet and we took a photo! )

All my eight cousins were at the party and they were so supportive , they took over and Billy and I were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. I didn't get to bed till the early hours, such fun. Mum said she woke up and thought" this isn't my room" but when she saw her clothes hanging on the wardrobe she knew she was ok!!

Yesterday my cousins son took us to a lovely restaurant in Salisbury for brunch and mum coped really well.It has made me think that we could maybe do more outings if we have other people with us to help.

Today we are having tea with our beautiful granddaughter Bunny, she is 7 today. How she changed our lives seven years ago, what joy and happiness little ones bring! Being with my cousins and some of their grandchildren made me think how the next generations will carry on the love and family ties that my mother and her parents instilled in us.It feels good!!

Have caught up with the crew this morning, we too remembered September the 11th and lit a candle. Thought of Billy's family in NJ and the friends they lost.

The sun is shining here on the Essex coast, sending love and sunshine to you all, specially Spaw, Nigel and Ann.

much love,
Wendy xxxxxxxx

Good to hear from you, Spaw, and I hope you do well next week, too.

I have been meaning to ask what Nigel asked--about 'Catters in CO, but usually when I think of it I'm not at my computer, and when I am at the computer I'm so tired my mind almost goes blank!. Thanks, Janie and Spaw, for news about folks in CO. I have been thinking mostly about Katlaughing's family there.

Gnu, thank you and all others around the world who helped people who were stranded during 9/11.

I was at work, teaching second graders that day. Anothe teacher came to my classroom door and asked me to come into the hallway for a minute. Then she told me what had happened. Throughout the morning I debated what I should tell my students and when. Right before lunch I knew they would be eating with children from other classes, and I had no idea what they had been told and what they would tell my children, so I told them briefly and matter-of-factly what had happened and reminded them that they were safe and if they wanted to see me during lunch and recess they could. None did. Throughout the day the classroom intercoms were filled with announcements for one child after another to come to the office for early dismissal as anxious parents took their children home. Not one parent came for any child in my class. I hope that was because they trusted me to care for their children. When I got home there were two messages on my answering machine: one from my son (already married and himself a dad), and one from my penpal-since-childhood friend in Lincolnshire, UK. While both figured I was safe, they wanted to make sure that I was okay emotionally, too.

Cami Sue has relatives there and she's posted on FB that things are very tough but their houses were okay although numerous outbuildings and other equipment were lost.

Sorry I've been posting a bit less but 3D has taken some time that was unexpected and a bit out of the norm. All's well, just a bit busy. The nice thing is that I check in here and keep finding we are sailing on a beam reach in a fair breeze.........Kinda' nice ain't it?

Monday begins another chemo week and they have pretty well fallen into a pattern....***sigh***....but they also are helping out and I feel better and haven't had blood since early April, about 6 months.

Let's enjoy this point of sail while we can. Squalls can come up quickly and there are too many oil tankers who don't have much concern about small sailing craft. LOL.....This thread keeps me coming here and you all are in my thoughts every day.

Enjoy them all!

Spaw

Oh... there is a downside. Unfortunately, a number of children saw the Bodhrans on my fireplace mantle* and wanted to know what they were and I played them for them so I am responsible for spreading the Bodhran further. Sorry. I taught some of these children, and two adults, Hran by email and they are pretty damn good now that they are teenagers and beyond.

I recall 9/11. Can't forget. Not the shock of it on TV. I get emails every year from a lot of people I put up at my house when the planes were grounded. I took them by the truckload (Ford F150 - yes, sitting in the truck bed too) back to my house from the Moncton Coliseum to shower and what have you and have a proper bite. As many as a dozen at a time. I put up several families overnight who had small children. So did a lot of my fellow Monctonians as well as people all across Atlantic Canada. Home cooked meals and sundries of all kinds were delivered to the stranded by Atlanic Canucks and, a few years later, George Bush actually touched down in NS and said thanks. I think he was on the ground for nearly an hour. I'd say more about that but... you know.

To all my American Friends & those from other countries equally distressed, my humblest, shamefaced apologies for allowing 9/11 pass without so much as a single word. Tax rebates & new software, that's what I was prattling on about. I'm appalled that I could be so forgetful & thoughtless.
Sending you much love & caring thoughts, belated though they may be,

a very good use for a tax refund

it's almost 2 in the morning here - I really must get to bed as I have the alarm set for 7.30 - I could change it to 8, but that makes a huge rush for shower, brekkie & the 9am bus ...

Wishing the whole Crew a very good morning, appropriate to your time zone. I spent my tax rebate updating Logic 9 to X(10!). Now all I've got to do is compose something!
Quiet aboard at the moment...hope that is an indicator of 'calm waters' in every sense.
         With Love,
                        Nigel.
