Nigel really enjoyed the link from gnu- says the presentation reminded him a bit of Bob Newhart's humour. I suspect the music links will be enjoyed as he recovers- rather a long journey. Continued encouragement would be appreciated.

I must say I am so sorry that I have been AWOL for weeks, no excuses I had the most miserable summer all over a misunderstanding with someone I love very dearly and have never fallen out with before ( not Billy I must tell you, he had a miserable time worrying about me) All is well now as I invited the person to lunch and we both poured our hearts, and tears, out, both of us felt as bad as each other over nothing!!

enough about me, I want to send all our love to Nigel ,who as Capt. of our ship, has been there for all of us for all these months . Now it is our turn to give all our support to you Nigel, I hope you are recovering well and resting and relaxing as you should. We still haven't met up at the beach hut but one sunny day I hope we can do so soon, who knows maybe October will bring a late Indian summer? Meanwhile lots of healing thoughts from me to you and Ann.Janie hugs to you too.

Billy has just gone off to see his Consultant for his 4 months checkup, fingers crossed!

Hmmm love will find a way. Dean still is avoiding school but this week an internet friend from Tennessee came visiting. She is just as socially inept or shy as Dean so they celebrate a common life trait without any awkwardness. Well some awkwardness but its better than depression.

One of my old friends died this morning. She was moved to hospice the weekend I was at the Getaway.

Good thoughts, please, for her family and all who loved her.

My newer friend who I have been taking to treatments, is not responding well. My heart is heavy.

I've been away and wrapped in my own concerns. Glad the surgery went well, Nigel. May the recovery be swift. Not sure how appropriate this is for your specific situation now, but certainly kinda how I think we compatriots on this ship of hope and caring may feel about each other, even if we have never met in person.

In a recent clean up (part of the slooooowly ongoing downsizing) I discovered/uncovered the label of the CD which died in the 70s & found it on youtube & have been listening to it ever since! On it's previous appearance some years back it was not on youtube, good thing I kept it.

Logging in briefly to joyfully report, as of an hour ago Nigel tells me "I'm back home…recovery time anything up to a month…pain control is the main issue at present."

He attends a special school and a children's hospital out patient program.

To my surprise they seem to be ignorant in the treatment of the biggest mental health crises for children born after 1999.

I believe the prescription treatment he receives is 180 degrees the wrong way. This is something that must be addressed.
At least Dean is in an enormous group that will be seeking similar strategies in life.

An acquaintance who lives outside of Sarasota checked in, post-Irma.
Their property really suffered very little considering what they expected. They were able to restore power, so they are not deprived that way. Many old oak trees are on the property, around both house and barn; the trees, amazingly, still stand. Obviously a lot of branches are no longer on the trees, but the trees still stand.

Minor repairs are needed to the house and the property fencing.
The pet cats are well.
She says the bats are all right as well. Not sure, am I, regarding the bats: I suspect they are not pets, but that her property has ecologically approved bat-dwellings constructed, and that some bats have made themselves at home there.
And her colony of bees also survived.

Glad to report that all my Florida family have checked in as safe. Some can't get back to their homes yet to assess for damage - but all are safe, which is the main thing.

Still waiting to hear from friends on Little Torch Key who did not evacuate. I know Little Torch and Big Pine were hit very hard, both with wind and with storm surge. Very little info coming out thus far, but search and rescue missions are beginning to deploy. Hopefully more info will be coming soon.

Most of my family lives on the east and west coasts of Florida. Satellite Beach and Melbourne on the east coast and Sarasota on the West Coast. Because of the tremendous gridlock on roads and at airports since Wednesday, evacuating the state has not been a reasonable option, combined with the inability to really predict just where this huge, monster storm will go. Family has not been able to ascertain which coast to shelter on, or even if sheltering much further inland is the best plan.

I'm nervous and fearful for them as can be. They have all been in Florida for many, many years and this is not their first rodeo, but they are all clearly scared about this one. Please hold all Floridians in your thoughts, meditations, and prayers.

I'm always concerned for them when hurricanes hit Florida, but right now I am really anxious and scared for them. Maybe more than is warranted. I'm not usually a hand=wringer, but can't help myself at this particular time.

Do ya think the immune response is not just autonomic but has an emotional trigger as well? If so, dread, fear, desperation and giving up may be powerful healing positives. I have anecdotal evidence this may be so. This flies in the face of current "positive attitude advocates".

Yaaay after a four week cold, lost voice fever cough sneeze fest I woke up today after a drenching sweat and I emerged the victor over that little annual virus. I can swallow again without pain.
No medicine or suppressants this time. This thorny Rhino virus had a big horn.
It was as though I didn't get better until I got a bit scared.
Fear is a motivator when taken in moderation.
