Just so so sad to hear about the passing of our dear Kat, this crew has lost one of the most loving and supportive people, always here to give wonderful and thoughtful words to us when our troubles were overwhelming us, she never complained although her health was so worrysome.

God bless you Kat RIP

we,ve had the teenage troubles with foster kids also, spaw.we see some of them still - and still helping them out!
our latest addition came to us one day old.we call her "angel" as the mum did,nt designate a name till a few weeks after birth.
not my idea, but becky is baby mad.but its gone better than expected.
so thats some of what we,ve been UP to.   blessings   pete.

Thanks for that one Maeve! And CL thanks for those wishes.

Was talking with Nigel and he reminded me of a time many years ago. For a number of reasons, all pretty trivial but together in a pile they looked mountainous, I decided to unplug the computer and the TV and and damn near everything else until we all had our bearings again. This included some teenage foster kids who began to freak out. A month later we all felt better for the experience.....or maybe they were fibbing in fear I might make it permanent......LOL.

I was glad to hear that Nigel and Ann were going to do a "bearings check" of their own.....and I think all of us on this crew would agree. In the meantime I think Maeve gave us an idea. I have a few tales of recent happenings that haven't been told including one I had not planned on but.......I think I will. I'd bet dollars to donuts some of you have the same but you're too sheepish to say so.....Yeah? I dare you!

Let's also not forget to keep checking up and checking in. Anyone got anything additional on Art Thieme. Kat is doing better right now with some new thing the Doc is trying. And I quite selfishly will ask for any UPS you might find lying around. What's the plan for Tam to not do the stomp? Pete, Billy and Wendy?

I gotta' tell you that this group is about the only reason I come here anymore......a few others but this is the biggest part of it.

Love to you all and GO FOR IT NIGEL.....BIG UPS TOU YOU!!!!!!

Sometimes what we can offer one another is distraction by way of a window into each others' lives.

My 90-year-old mother has gotten through surgery, rehab, and the first couple of weeks at home, with daily and overnight visits from yours truly for the last six weeks. I chose not to post about her here for privacy reasons, but you should know your stories helped me deal with my own stress and worry. Thank you.

Now a fun sort of busy has commenced, with three different bantam hens hatching out broods starting one month ago, with the second batch starting hatching on Friday, and the third expected to begin tomorrow.

Our last house chicken, who can not stand, much less walk, has been in our care for nearly three years. I've been working with her on rehab (swimming in a sand box, learning to push herself upright, learning to tell us when she needs water, food, cleaning, a different position, etc.) . She has amazed us all by becoming so strong she can stand on one knuckle and a wing. She has given further cause for rejoicing at her restored health by laying her first two eggs this week.

Although our outside work days here on the farm begin by three or four in the morning and end somewhere around 7 in the evening, I keep all of you in mind- the seen and the unseen, ailing and healthy, those who raise high many reasons for joy and those struggling with sorrow.

I am happy right now, looking through the north window out into the young apple orchard, watching my dear husband teaching yet another young man how to plant and tend fruit trees. We've never met him before. He stopped by to ask about the giant pine cookie slabs we have for sale with the potted trees, and an hour later he's deep into the orchard tour.

Peace to you all,

Maeve

Best to our Tm doing the "VT Flipper Stomp." Hope the performance is short.

Hope we hear from Nigel soon. Med issues and adjustments to certain scrips can be a serious problem as well as the problems. Sometimes the cure is a bigger problem than the disease.....Anyway.....

Going to make a few calls today and check on Kat.......My next round of Vidaza starts Monday but this time with port!

Nigel, I hope your new medication works well for you, and Spaw, I hope your port soon finishes healing.

My condo unit in Rhode island has central air conditioning, and while I was still working and later when my health was poor I used it sparingly. For at least the last three summers and so far this summer I have not used it. Nor have I used any window air conditioners or fans. It's an environmental issue and a desire to use my money for other things. (I'm solvent, but we all have to make choices!) And I'm lucky to know it is there if I need it! This summer is hot and humid with little breaks, and in this state we have been warned that there may be power brown-outs because of the high energy use by air conditioners.

We used to call it summer...

I've been a bit too pre-occupied myself lately as my prodigal son Michael has returned home and within 48 hours the Sheriff showed up at my door.......***sigh***.......Anyway, we got that all cleared up and we're working on the college idea. He's morose over the breakup of a long term relationship but we're giving some time and space and he's doing better already.

Healthwise.....The port is in and it works but we're giving it time to heal properly. When you have been on Coumadin as long as I have it causes problems in even the simplest of surgical procedures. And when you have such a lovely combination of assorted bodily failures everything becomes a balancing act where you trade a bit od this to fix that. Hopefully you make the right choice and if not you equally hope to have time to correct!!!

Right now I am feeling pretty damn good (knock on wood) and we're decently balancing. I'm working at regaining strength too. That botched surgery a couple of years ago and the following two months flat on my back took more out of me than I can believe. But working at doing things right now and seeing progress on the blood problems cheers the hell out of me. Thanks for all the UPS .....and thanks in advance for a few more. LOL

We too have the heat wave and no central air. We have new window shaker in a large size which keeps part of the house very comfortable though plus the fans keep the colder air moving about. Hopefully this heat breaks on schedule by Saturday.

AND NOW-----I talked to katlaughing yesterday and dear kat is going through a tough period. Like me, she too has assorted issues but her balancing act is out of whack right now. UPS, thoughts, prayers, and any other Mojo you got needs sent out to the Western Slope of Colorado!

I love you all,

Spaw

"PS. Don't forget, Folks..."
Same over much of the US, Nigel. AC costs money to buy and to run- money many of us do not have. Our little machine is the result of a barter with a neighbor. We don't run it in the morning or at night, just when we take refuge from planting and tilling outside as we eat lunch.

Thoughts and blessings raining down to cool those who suffer from the heat, to comfort those in physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual pain, laughter to those who are sad, and companionship to those who are lonely.

"Take Joy!"

Maeve

Janie & ChanteyLass have said it all for me. Very preoccupied with my own health issues at present, mainly around transitioning from one drug regime to another. Combine that with the heatwave in London at present (unbearably hot, humid nights = very fragmented sleep), so 'zombie' would sum me up pretty well!
Much Love, Hugs & Kisses to you All,
                                                                      Nigel.
                                                                      xxxx

PS. Don't forget, Folks, in the UK, AirCon in the average house is still the exception, rather than the rule!

Selfishly too preoccupied with my own life to give time to think of anything truly thoughtful to post, but want to let you know I check in several times a week and catch up. Don't have my wits about me well enough to post without fear of forgetting to include some one who has posted regarding a trouble, trial or tribulation, and know that personal noting/acknowledging by others is powerfully supportive. So....while not leading any verses, I'm still here with the crew and in the chorus.

Peace be with all.

Glad to read that Wendy's brother is on the mend. And that Pete Twitchett posted to his thread.

I am paddling with big flippers (badly swollen feet) on a little skiff behind the Rainbow, trying to catch up with all the events since my last read.

Also worrying about how I am going to get my feet into the specially decorated boots for step daughter's wedding next week. Right now I can barely wear crocs. Started prescribed diuretic today.

Need special wishes and ideas for foot reduction by next Tuesday, please. I have cut the salty foods, meat, dairy and bread. Have to drink lots of water because I am perishingly dry since being taken off of Hydroxchlorquine. Sjogren's coming back with vengeance. I am spending evenings with feet elevated above heart trying to keep hips straight.

Gotta go lie down again. Boring! :(
