Two moments of lightness & brightness. Last week we took our two Granddaughters to see the stage show of 'Mamma Mia'. They are NOT 'Abba generation' kids by any stretch of the imagination, but they absolutely loved it. This gives me the opportunity to 'come out'...I love the Music of Abba too; there, I've said it! I realise that some of you may be shocked to read this admission, but it is my considered opinion that Björn & Benny have written some of the finest popular songs of last few decades, bar none.
Our second 'moment' was the arrival of Jane's younger sister, all the way from Charlotte NC. She brings laughter & sunshine with her, wherever she goes. She has to fly home on Tuesday, but the few days she has spent with us have been a real tonic.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Jane has a 'key' consultation with her oncologist. Be with us on Tuesday, please,
          With Love to You All,
                                        Nigel & Ann.

Dear Nigel,

How lovely to read your last post, just proves that music lifts our spirits in a wonderful way and to share ABBA with the grandchildren is great, our grandchildren have been singing along to the DVD of the film since they were tiny and ,yes, I sing along too!

We had "a moment" on Saturday, as you know we are not able to go out often as we look after mum and, all last year avoided crowds because of Billy's chemotherapy. But we went to see Patricia Routledge and Piers Lane in " Admission one shilling" the story of Dame Myra Hess and the war time concerts in The National Gallery. It was a lovely evening. My son is the Theatre Manager ,St Georges in Great Yarmouth, a beautifully restored Wren Chapel now a Theatre and Arts Centre, so we shared the evening with seeing him.

So glad your other daughter is here, enjoy the rest of her visit.
Will think of Jane tomorrow as always,

much love

Wendy xxxxx

I liked Abba's music and it's far reaching appreciation is clearly evident. Don't care for it as much these days but I can still tap my foot to some tunes if that's what's the best choice is.

I like any kind of music that I like and dislike anyone who judges me upon what I like... >;-)

I enjoy ABBA's music, too. I wouldn't spend money to hear it but I smile, tap my foot, and hum along when it's on a radio, and I borrowed the Mamma Mia DVD from the library.

I'm glad you have had some lighter moments. You, too, Wendy.

I plan to be here tomorrow, though probably not until quite late. And one reason I'm so late tonight is that I had trouble connecting to the Internet tonight. I hope that doesn't happen again. I don't know what caused the problem, but I jiggled some cords and clicked some switches and everything's working at this moment. Anyway, I hope the angels hold Jane's hand during tomorrow's consultation.

I received a beautiful email recently, the subject of which was: "How be Ye?" I couldn't get those three words out of my head. I felt compelled to write the following:

How be Ye, this cold & frosty morn?

How be Ye? Time has passed since thee was born.

How be Ye? My trusted, dearest Friend.

How be Ye? When 'End' doth mean: 'The end'.

How be Ye? When the laughter turns to tears.

How be Ye? When days are left & no more years.

How be Ye? As the sun begins to set.

How be Ye? Must remember, can't forget.

How be Ye? As the vigil takes it's toll,

How be Ye? Sick at heart, bereft of soul?

How be Ye? As the darkness gathers in.

How be Ye? A fight that's lost, not one to win.

How be Ye? When the time to go arrives.

How be Ye? 'Twill be our Love that us survives.

                   With Love to You All,
                                                 Nigel & Ann.

The news following Jane's latest consultation is not good I'm afraid. The cancer is an extremely aggressive type, the most aggressive in fact. She begins another course of chemotherapy next week. If this programme of chemo proves ineffective, Jane's oncologist said there was nothing more they could do for her. If the chemo is effective, we are looking at a prolongation of life, not a cure. Desperate, desperate times.

I doubt anyone here can relieve the pain all of you are going through now and, sadly, that which is yet to come. The many words from you yourself and all of us can only provide scant solace but we have nothing else...........I wish we did. I give you my best in love and friendship for strength and for the best possible outcome whatever that may be for you and Ann......and for Jane.

Your post from the other day reminded of this song verse by Patrick Sky..........

For you the years will heal all the wounds that have been opened
Just like time will cleanse the fields of all the flowers that have ripened.
Of all these things you can be sure.......
Only love will endure

SPECIAL REQUEST NEWS

Yo Folks!!!!

Just got a call from kat at the hospital. The infectionn in her fingers is staph and it is beyond the antibiotic stage. They are going to cut them open and clean/scrape them out.   I'm sure additional antibiotics will come into play in the process but taking this step is big.....and absolutely critical/necessary/lifesaving. I am not being dramatic here.

How serious do hospitals and Docs take this? If I go into a crowded ER and say, "I'm running a fever and I have an artificial mitral valve," I move past bleeding old ladies to the head of the line.

As you all know kat has had heart problems and surgeries and staph infections anywhere in your body tend to go pretty quickly to the heart and destroy valves. One can very easily find themselves in a very narrow window here so let's all get real damn serious with whatever mojo you send out....Do it NOW!

Kat and I came here at about the same time over 14 years ago and we've been Buds ever since. She's got everything I can send. Join me.........Can't type anymore.....Do it..............

SOB! That's absolutely terrible news!

Hard to comprehend that she has been "let be" by the docs and it has come to this. DISGUSTING! Heads should roll IN COURT and it should be investigated by the medical association and government.

Donuel.... maeve is indeed tending a sick relative. Probably her post. She needs to be kept in our thoughts and prayers as well.

Earlier, I quoted from this simple, lovely song:

Round Our Skiff

Round our skiff's be God's aboutness
Ere she try the deeps of sea

Sea-shell frail for all her stoutness
Unless Thou her helmsman be

Text: Trad. Hebrides    Music: © 1984 Kathy Wonson Eddy
"Kathy kindly sent me this song among many others a few years ago: she is a great source of liturgical choral music. I have sung it with our chorus and another smaller group, but Carol and I wanted to keep it in our repertoire, so here's a third way to sing it. Kathy lives in Randolph, Vermont." Gordon Bok

(Round Our Skiff is recorded on the album Herrings in the Bay)
