Thanks for the update, Wendy. It's comforting to know she is so well taken care of and is content. Nigel said it re your family... "... you can't ask for much more than that."

Dear Everyone, I felt an urgent desire to express my gratitude for your Loyalty, Love, Compassion, Wisdom, Humour, Selflessness & the dozens of other positive qualities you regularly display. The fact that so much good has been done, so much comfort apportioned, so many smiles generated, so many tears gently wiped away, bares testament to who you are & what you stand for. Your candour is, at one & the same time, breathtaking & profoundly moving. There is a unique serendipity in losing Jane & finding all of You.
On 'The Rainbow', there is a door that remains permanently open (well above the water-line, I hasten to add!) through which all may enter. There is a welcome waiting I've rarely experienced in 'real life'. Good People thinking Good Thoughts, saying Good Words & doing Good Deeds, often in the most trying of personal circumstances.
It's only four days until Thanksgiving. I give thanks for each & every one of you. I give thanks for what we've created. I give thanks to Max for having the vision to create Mudcat. A universal, all-embracing Thank You.
                                                       With Love,
                                                                      Nigel & Ann

I'd say something but I cannot possibly say it any better. I've been a bit lax in posting here lately but I have kept up with the voyage and the crew. 3D has been pretty full and a bit trying at times lately but all is well here too.

There is much good news aboard ship and just the camaraderie of reading gives much warmth when we are going through a bit of roughness and loss on the 'Cat. If I am less vocal of late it comes from the fact that I often have no words that could be better than those from all of you...........Thank you all for being here.

Wendy, so glad you have the care reinforcement in place; it was obvious how badly it was needed.

The winds have been howling some, but this is a tight ship!

And Spaw said better than I could what I have been thinking.

Today marks the beginning of another journey around the sun for me. My son and his girlfriend drove over from Raleigh this morning, took me out to brunch and stayed for a good long visit.

It has been a long time since I had time for a life. A recent job change to a less stressful work culture environment, colleagues who actually do the same work and therefore understand and support one another, much shorter commute and fewer hours. Several years of fretting about my adolescent son, who is turning out to be just fine - caring, responsible, thinking - and the gentling and acceptance of grief and age related transitions in extended family and family of origin offer real hope that this next trip around the sun may allow for more "breathing room" than have the last several.

For most of us here, somewhat older and hopefully a little wiser, the holiday season is a mixed bag - a time to remember, miss and celebrate those we love, living and dead, a time to practice mindful acceptance. And more now than when we were younger, an opportunity to experience deep and conscious thankfulness in a way that we didn't have the life experience to do when we were younger.

I could not ask for better traveling companions. I am grateful to all.

Janie

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone over there in the West.

A time to give thanks and count our blessings . I do give thanks for all the crew, friends I may never meet, some I hope to meet, soon if possible in our beach hut,to retell stories that we have shared here on board Jane's Rainbow ship. A crew of loving compassionate folk, whose love of music has brought them together to form this wonderful family.

Much love and thanks to you all

Well,...I'm fine, and not really in need of fuss, but I have been in the hospital for a couple of days. suddenly, in the evening, I had rather intense aching all over chest, neck, upper back, and shoulder. Not extreme pain, but spooky. Soon got a little chills and tremors. Scooted to the emergency ward, just a couple of miles. They soon determined I wasn't having a heart attack. They found quite a bit of excess fluid around the heart, but not enough to do damage or interfere with the heart function. I actually felt perfectly fine by the following noon. They are kicking me out by the end of the day, on medication, to see a cardiologist in one week for another echocardiogram. Worst case, they drill for fluid.
The painful part, we would be in the air right now, on our way to St.Barts for our 30th wedding anniversary. But I already have revised reservations to try again in April. Gotta do other
things right now.

I trust all the US crew members had a great thanksgiving. I heard that its bigger than Christmas over the pond. I understand it has a specific application but I think a thankful day is a great idea, that hopefully carries over after the event. the rough times can take the edge off an attitude of gratitude, but hopefully not for ever.
blessings all    pete.

WHEW: Some of this day turned out to be...interesting...
At 2:30 we were standing there with all our stuff, waiting for discharge papers...
A nurse-practicioner was the first to arrive to tell us...
another cardiologist had looked at my records, and caught the fact that I have a little kidney damage from long term arthritis med. Said no way should I have any of the pills that might clear out the fluid. Plus, they want to see just what the fluid is.
We had already arranged a care person to shuttle my wife between home and hospital morning and night, and see that she gets proper meds and insulin amounts. It's been no problem for me to keep track during the day.
So now they tell me that tomorrow...sometime tomorrow...they will be drilling for fluid. Twenty miles away in the Flint facility. I call the care agency to see if they can cover the situation. I put down the phone to wait for their answer. I'm told the procedure will be done here instead. Call the agency back to tell them. Accidentally turn off the ringer switch on our wonderful new "smart" phone and don't discover the fact for a couple of hours. We give the lunch lady orders for both myself and my wife. This entails someone going down to the cafeteria cashier with 5 bucks for the guest tray, which my wife had been doing with no problem. Wife comes back with big batch of food she has purchased in the cafeteria. That was the least problem, but...
We have care arranged, and I have managed to climb most of the way back down the wall. Someone hang me a hammock in a quiet place aboard.
Did I mention that I love this crew?

Glad another cardiologist took a look, Dean. Sorry you had to postpone your trip, but thinking I'm glad these symptoms declared themselves before you left, instead of while y'all were far away from home.

Tie your hammock up right over there, and rest a spell.

Thinking especially of Dean & his Wife. Spaw (owe you a PM), & Gnu for making me laugh. I'm waiting for the results of a recent bowel cancer screening. It's the routine test offered to all folks in the UK between the ages of 60-74. But with my propensity for anxiety & depression, the waiting (probably about another week) is playing on my mind. The situation is made more complicated because my other med. probs. are renowned for generating 'False Positives'. If that happens, then the batch of tests to eliminate the FPs are extensive & invasive. The 'stats' are very much on my side, but I take small comfort from that. I think it was that great comedy icon, Spike Milligan who said: "I have a hero's body, but cowards' legs". That's about where I am at the moment....just want to run away. Spaw has thrown me a life-line with the words:"....he's proven himself a tough old bird...." Flightless I may be...I'm working on 'tough'. Trying not to let you down, Pat,

No Rain

All I can say is that my life is pretty plain,
I like watchin' the puddles gather rain
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two
And speak my point of view but it's not sane
It's not sane

I just want someone to say to me, oh,
I'll always be there when you wake, yeah
Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today
So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I don't understand why sleep all day
And I start to complain that there's no rain
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake,
And it rips my life away but it's a great escape
Escape, escape, escape

All I can say is that my life is pretty plain,
Ya don't like my point of view,
Ya think that I'm insane
It's not sane, it's not sane

I just want someone to say to me, oh, oh, oh
I'll always be there when you wake, yeah
Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today
I really wanna really gonna have it made
Oh oh oh

I don't post much here, but I read daily. Nigel - deep breaths, my friend. And a big hug. Dean - so glad they caught your problem before you got in the air. Big hugs for both you and Judy. Spaw - you are frequently in my thoughts, especially when the dog lets loose an SBD on the couch next to me. Just kidding about the farts (or am I?). Big hugs for you, too, just because. And big hugs for anyone else who needs them.

That said, I could use a few myself. Thanksgiving plans with the family fell through due to weather, and this past week is always the hardest one of the year for me - last Monday my dad would have been 68.

Okay, guys: let's have a competitive Ranger-hugging match : )

At least I can get to the laptop again; much easier posting!

I will have some plumbing attached for a day or so yet, but I'm fine save for the annoyance of being kinda immobilized. They got 20 liquid ounces outta me. They've been trying to culture any life forms from the stuff, and haven't found a sign of anything I can take home for a pet. Most likely bet as of now: something virusy that messed with me and went it's way, with no reason to expect any recurrance.

Nigel, Spaw, and all, I'm good for pumping some mojo for you all again.

Hard to post these days, but I do read and keep each person in mind as I go about my day.

Tami, we missed Thanksgiving with NH family too. There are some we won't get to see again. Need a late feast? We just hosted an unexpected meal for family...including my mother who may very well not see another Thanksgiving. You're welcome to drive up for a Thanksgiving lunch.

Maeve

Maeve, (((HUG!)))
