Nigel, I don't know how I missed the latest update. That is great news! I want to tell you, you and your family have been shining examples of living in a state of Grace that comes from acceptance, fortitude, hope, belief, and love of one another. With that Guidance anything can happen not least of which you have touched hearts and minds all over the world and you have left a record of it here for all time and, last, but not least, you have *documented* it in the universal language of music so anyone can share in the journey. What Beauty. Thank to you all for sharing with us.

Much Love, Light, Peace, & Healing Energy,

kat

Nigel, thank you so much. I try to be a reflection of what I receive and I have received an abundance from Mudcat and its members, my friends, so your praise counts doubly so for everyone else on here including yourself and family.

I joined Mudcat sometime around Oct/Nov '05. My sole intention then was publicity-seeking in connection with my folk music days. It took a while for me to appreciate that Mudcat offered much more. Kat's word:"reflection" is most appropriate. I posted on Jan. 12th this year that Ann & I needed help & support & in abundance it arrived & continues to arrive. Our care & concern for others is a 'reflection' of the care & concern Ann & I have received from so many of you Good People. I have never engaged in a dialogue of this nature before. It has been & continues to be, one of my most life-affirming experiences.
Most Sincerely & with all the Love we can muster,
                                                                                              Nigel & Ann.

Kinda' reminds me of a great song by Ken Hicks and done so very well by Sandy Paton on one of the Golden Ring albums........

ALL THE GOOD PEOPLE
(Ken Hicks)

This is a song for all the good people
All the good people who touched up my life.
This is a song for all the good people
People I'm thankin' my stars for tonight.

This is a verse for all the good people
Who knew what I needed was something they had
Food on the table, a heart that was able
Able to keep me just this side of sad.

This is a song for all the good fellows
Who shared up my time, some good and some bad
We drank in the kitchen and shared no competition
Each knowing the other was a good friend to have

This is a song for all the good people
All the good people who touched up my life.
Some helped in small ways, and some helped in hallways
And some always told me you're doin' all right.

This is a song I sing for my lady
For my lady who puts up with me
My ramblin' and roamin', my late night come-homin'
She is the sunshine that flows down on me.

This is a verse for the pickers and singers
Whose songs and whose voices have blended with mine
On the back steps and stages, for hugs and for wages,
It's some kind of sharing and some kind of fine.

What beautiful words, I will try and get that album, sounds like a lovely song to sing, and I may need to sing a lot over the next few months to keep Billy's spirits up!He had the bone marrow biopsy on Wednesday and usually so uncomplaining he said it was very painful.
But he is being very positive about the chemo, that starts Monday and another day the hospital on Tuesday then just one day a month for six months.Samantha ,our daughter is getting him an ipod and down loading all his favourite music so he can close his eyes and go to good places in his head!
I am not sure about starting a new thread , I feel very safe with the crew aboard " The Rainbow" but healing thoughts and prayers will help us on the voyage.

Wendy, very pleased to hear that treatment has started. That sense of 'something moving at last' is still very fresh in our minds when Jane was diagnosed back in January.
Starting your own thread is always an option, but I'm touched that you feel:"... very safe with the crew aboard " The Rainbow". Good thoughts, Prayers, Humour, Anecdotal Musings...it's all here...one of the wisest, most well informed & friendly Crews with which I've ever sailed (If the sailing metaphor becomes too wearisome, just write what you want to write the way you want to write it!)

I am partial to the Sandy Paton version of the song Spaw posted, but I can't find it on youtube, so you may hear a close rendition done by Hal An Tow...my ears tell me their tune is slightly different on a few notes than what Sandy did on the Golden Ring cycle still available at Folk Legacy Records, folks. Still a beautiful song.

I like the soft, wafting breezes I'm getting right now. So lovely being here. Thanks for being here and being so inviting.

Pete, Dean, ChanteyLass & Kat...it really brightened up my Saturday morning to hear from all of you. I love those times when everything goes quiet for a day or three & then the next moment, there is a rush of posts. Just recently, too, positive news & good progress reported from several different quarters. Before I go (our neighbours are visiting this morning & we're nowhere near ready!) I must recount this 'Random Act Of Kindness'. Ann & I were returning to our car, & as usual, we were walking along, holding hands. A lady, a complete stranger, stopped & told us in, what can only be described as 'glowing terms', how beautiful it was to see older people walking hand in hand. It was a magical moment, full of sincerity, brief but remembered for a lifetime.....and then she was gone. I'm left wondering why the simple act of holding hands made such an impact on this Dear Lady....priceless.
A Happy, Healthy Weekend to All,
             With Love,

Obviously the lady didn't realized that when long-married folks hold hands, it's as a deterrent to punching each other. : )

Dear Dean, if it came to a punching fight between Ann & me, she'd win hands down (no pun intended). She's much stronger than me....correction....her arm muscles work far better than mine! (-:
I'm making a broad assumption that the humour in your post is an indicator of a 'lightening of the load' as Judy continues to heal & your lives gradually work their way back to the way they were. It certainly sounded like that on your own thread.
Worth saying too....through all the years that Ann & I have been together, we've traded plenty of banter, but no punches. I can still run faster than she (just), so I'll keep that in reserve....just in case!
                                 With Love,

With Nigel & Ann's permission, I would like to introduce my friend, Connie. She's not in the cyberworld, but she knows of Mudcat mojo and is in need. Her oldest son and only daughter are both gravely ill. Ben has Parkinson's and had a stroke last Friday. He's in hospital, can speak mosly okay and move around, The Parkinson's is slowly taking its toll though.

Out of the blue, seemingly, Linda went in for chronic pain and was found to have Stage 4 cancer. She's had some surgery, may have more to go, plus chemo, but it's a dicey situation.

Connie is one of my best and oldest friends. We've been through a lot together, but this is much more than anything else we've experienced. I'll be telling her about this thread and you, Nigel and Ann, as I know she will relate to what you've all been going through.

Anyway, if folks have a wee bit extra, a gentle sailing might be good for Connie. She is a bit infirm herself, but is being strong for her kids. I know she could use some virtual shoulders to give her strength.

Thanks, again, Nigel and Ann. Much love and gratitude,

kat

It certainly puts your own life into perspective when you read about folk like Connie, her children & all they are having to endure. Like gnu, I'm struggling for words that might bring even the slightest crumb of comfort. This is a perfect example of what Banjoman mentioned above...how the thread has developed into something I could never have envisaged. The sense of Community is palpable. I'm sure Kat will do whatever is necessary to bring Connie & her Family aboard. We have unlimited accommodation & an accumulation of wisdom, love, humour, experience & pragmatic common sense to ease the most burdensome of life's loads.
To all of you who continue sailing with us, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Dear Kat,
sending love to your friend Connie and her children,I am sure the wise crew on this ship will bring her comfort and hold her in their thoughts and prayers.I have gained so much from reading this thread and thank Nigel so much for bringing us all together.
Billy started his chemotherapy a week ago , he had a few setbacks on the first two days but had wonderful staff at the hospital who were not only careing for him but looked after me sitting with him!He ran a fever on Wednesday and was admitted to the hospital , but came home again on Friday.
This week he feels much better and we hope to be able to go away to Norfolk for the weekend, so fingers crossed that the blood tests tomorrow are positive and he gets the Dr's agreement to go away.
So 1 treatment done, 5 to go!!
love to all the crew,
Wendy

Wendy, Jane's first couple of sessions of chemo were by far the most unpleasant. She was scheduled for six sessions, but in the end, had four, so there is always a possibility that your Billy might not need all six too. Waiting for the blood test results can be something of a nerve-strecher, but, as you say, fingers crossed & you get the all-clear for Norfolk. Norfolk plus some sunshine will do both of you a power of good!

Billy, Linda, Ben, Connie, Wendy and so many others, focusing thoughts and good intentions on you.

My family knows first hand how meaningful and supportive is the knowledge that people who are essentially strangers are praying, focusing, caring with attention and intention.

Call it agape. Call it loving-kindness. Call it unconditional positive regard.

It takes nothing away from the support of those who know, love and/or are personally involved by virtue of family or 3-D community to say that mojo of the Mudcat ilk is in a separate and powerfully sustaining category.

Pete, I was away when you had your birthday...a very belated Happy Birthday. A 'different' kind of birthday, following the death of your Mother, but your memories of her could form the basis of a special celebration, even so. I'm heartened to see that you are planning some gigs...there'll be 'something extra' now in the way you perform your songs.
Kat, Janie gets it right every time doesn't she?
Janie, your use of the word: 'agape' resonated strongly with me. I c&p'd this from Wikipedia:
" [aˈɣapi]) is one of the Koine Greek words translated into English as love, one which became particularly appropriated in Christian theology as the love of God or Christ for humankind. In the New Testament, it refers to the covenant love of God for humans, as well as the human reciprocal love for God; the term necessarily extends to the love of oneÕs fellow man. Many have thought that this word represents divine, unconditional, self-sacrificing, active, volitional, and thoughtful love. Although the word does not have specific religious connotation, the word has been used by a variety of contemporary and ancient sources, including Biblical authors and Christian authors...." Your contributions add an intellectual polish to our ('our' is significant) thread, for which we are sincerely grateful.
Jane & her Family return to the UK today for good (There have been a few false alarms regarding the 'final return'). She will undoubtedly return for holidays to see her friends, all being well. Her cancer remains 'in stasis'...long may it remain so. She has recently discovered Matcha Green Tea & speaks very highly of it's beneficial effects to her overall demeanour. Not sure whether her oncologist is aware of this, but she has more energy & drive than we've seen for months. Impossible to tell whether it's the new medication or the Matcha Tea (or both!). What is important is that she feels well & she's living her life in much the same way as before her diagnosis, back in January. We just wish that all traces of the cancer could be removed, restoring her health completely & absolutely.
Much to read here today & on which to reflect,
       With Love to You All,
                                     Nigel & Ann.

BTW...... i'm still here of course and truly enjoying this thread. I love your "voyage" Nigel.......spot on. Do you all notice how much freer it is when we give up ourselves and open up to the thoughts of others?   Pretty neat ain't it?

Later, Ill tell you why I think that happens here far more than it does other places both in the virtual as well as the 3D world.

Much good news for now and I hope katmyluv will pass on all of this as i know she will. "Connie" ceretainly has her plate full and I too send good thoughts their way.

Yes, Spawdarlin', thanks...just got off the phone with (my) Connie. She had company (her niece & nephew-in-law came over to mow the grass) and sounded tired, so I just passed on that GOOD people all over the world are sending T&Ps and she is most grateful.

I told her the good news about Jane and she knows there is hope. Her son, Ben, is struggling to get the words out of his head and actually speak them; seems some wired are crossed from the stroke.

love to you all,

kat

To anyone hurting now: May your burdens be lighter than the softest feather.

I have loved this group since forever. Especially Augusto's voice.

Bruce, Lovely music.

I don't suppose there is a translation of the lyrics available somewhere?

I think he had a great voice, too.
Google Translate's version is a little more awkward than this from Bing Translator's. It makes sense if you shift the meanings slightly. "Pescar" is "to fish", I believe.

To play a kite a chalk white,
the old wall was nothing
to smile a lie
to be great.

You grow up, you learn
you grow up, you will be taken
you grow up, you'll love it.

It was a nothing a green field
a run and then a pescar on the River
It was a nothing to smile
a lie to be great.

You grow up, you learn
you grow up, you will be taken
you grow up, you'll love
regret will remain
by that age, of that age.

You grow up, learn,
you grow up, you will be taken
you grow up, you'll love
You grow up, learn,
you grow up, you come
you grow up, you'll love
you grow up, you learn.

So many people to pray for! It is a good thing that so many more people are doing the praying.

And by praying I don't necessarily mean down on the knees, hands clasped or palms touching, though of course that is fine. I also mean turning one's thoughts throughout the day to those who need them.

What a fine crew! All hands on deck!
