Sorry, this is a bit of a shameless self promotion but I have recently put my beloved harp up for sale. :( I'd like it to go to a good home and preferably to a folkie, so I thought I'd let everyone on here know about it. The ebay link is here!

Thanks,
Sinéad.

Stick at it, you'll regret it if you let it go.

People used to say I had no natural talent, but I worked at my instrument and, over time, have appeared on several other people's albums. Persistence can make a real difference.

Ah, thank you for your encouragement! I haven't completely given up on the instrument, I intend to buy a smaller one from the money I sell this one for. But this one is just a bit too big for me right now and, after writing off my car and seeing the effects on my insurance (!), I could really do with the money.

From Sinéad's eBay link, above:

"...mahogany Aoyama Carolan 36 string Lever Harp...in perfect condition (3 strings are currently broken but I will replace these for the winning bidder). It has lovely tone and great sound quality; this is due to the added soundbox at the bottom of the harp, something which many lever harps do not have the advantage of. The sound carries well... the strings are spaced like a concert harp rather than your average small folk harp. It also has a few more strings than most lever harps, which again aids with the progression to a full size concert harp...I will also include the harp protective cover (in dark red), 3 tuition books and a CD of one of the country's most famous harp buskers."

There is also a link there to a sound file of model of this harp being played.

Too bad to give up so soon, but downsizing doesn't sound like a bad option, either, if this one is simply too much to handle. How long have you been playing?
