John Coppins, a singer well known on the Essex folk scene, passed away on December 23.
He was a regular contributor to the Leigh Folk Carol Service and an obituary has been put up on its web page.

I'm very sorry to hear this and so is my partner Michael Billinge, who is from that area and remembers John well. Southend was always one of Packie's and my favourite gigs and I am saddened by this news. Both Michael and I send our condolences to the family, and are thinking of them.

Bonnie

A sad loss of a genuine real gentleman. A warm, charming, friendly and unassuming guy who was quite unaware of his unbelievable talent as a folk singer. His voice was a one off, quite unique. He will be sorely missed by so many. Fortunately recordings and photos will remind us of his warm character.
