Plenty of space for camping. At least one caravan club hold occasional meets there.
The following link should find it on Google Maps -
White Horse, Sharlston.

The field to the right of the pub is where vans and tents go - entry via the pub car park.

Quack!
Geoff.

Hi jane and Geoff,

Just had a thought ... I am now permanently in a wheelchair. Is that OK? are there loads of steps?

The function room at the side of the pub, where we will be based, is level entry. Front door of pub has a couple of steps, but I think the side door is level access.
I will check with Maddie.
Quack!
Geoff

Yes its definitely happening. Numbers are creeping up and quite a few interested but not confirmed yet. I think we currently have a few more than last year and hopefully quite a few more by the time we start the weekend :)

I meant that some people hadn't confirmed; the event is definitely on (realised my previous post could have been misread).

Had a good time at the pub this weekend and they are looking forward to us again this year. Please spread the word to any folk friendly friends mudcatters or non mudcatters all welcome. If everyone who has expressed an interest turns up we should be about 30 - 40 but there is plenty of room for more.
There will be cooked breakfasts available both mornings. Last year we all had a communal chilli on the Saturday. If you think that would be a good idea again? The pub does great food so please support them by eating and drinking loads :)

Hi Jane- I thought the communal chilli on the Sat night was great last year, though I remember at least a few peeps had not realised this was on, so they had eaten in the main pub earlier. So if you need an idea of numbers I count as four ( not cos I eat enough chilli for four, but because I think my OH and our friends who are coming agin this year will probably think the same!)

Count me in. I count as one (not cos I couldn't eat enough chilli for four, but I have to maintain my sylph-like figure ………… stop laughing!).

No one's laughing Doug; we know how many zillions of calories are burned in playing the banjo. Serious business....

After chatting to Mick we decided not to have the chilli but thanks for organising it.

Does the pub do B&B?

Pretty good. Slightly higher than the road so drains well. Pub doesn't do B&B although there is a fairly good motel style place not too far.Redbeck Motel

I believe the 496 Wakefield/Doncaster bus runs both ways hourly(but not on the hour) between the motel&Sharleston lane end approx 5 stops

Probably right Gerry. Can always arrange to come and collect you before we start drinking and cabs are readily available later.
Chilli has been ordered and the pub will also do cooked breakfasts if there are enough takers.

Redbeck Cafe/motel to White Horse Pub actually clocks in as 1.7 or 1.8 miles (2 alternative routes) on Google Maps.

Just had a phonecall from a chap called Zac who had heard about our weekend from his daughter who lives close to pub and so is coming up from Portsmouth. I have a good feeling about this weekend.
Just dropped off the caravan and can confirm field is dry but luckily pub is not :)

Geoff; definition of perfect pitch for a banjo is when you lob it into a skip without hitting the sides.

Jane; Dry field, moist pub = right way round.

Only one more sleep to go!

Will be great to sing with you again!
