Subject: RE: Maidenhead on the Move From: GUEST,The Admiral & his Lady Date: 18 Feb 12 - 11:35 AM Thanks to Terry for posting this thread. The Fifield Inn is a warm and friendly village pub, with an enthusiastic Landlord & Landylady (Gary & Helen). The club will be held in the restaurant, and is very inviting. We are thrilled that the club will celebrate it's 40th Birthday there, and as Terry has mentioned our month of March with Special Guests. All will be welcome and we hope to see you on 1st March. Thank you for all the good wishes Pearl & Tony |

Subject: RE: Maidenhead on the Move From: bubblyrat Date: 24 Feb 12 - 01:18 PM Yes, best wishes , and good luck with the move to the new venue ,from me - I had some good, and not -so-good ,times at the Seven Stars ,but I'm not surprised that it's closing , and that room was always so cold ! |
Subject: RE: Maidenhead on the Move From: GUEST,The Admiral & his Lady Date: 25 Feb 12 - 04:59 AM Once again thank you for the good wishes. Thursday at the Seven Stars was a very warm, happy and nostalgic last night. ( Sorry bubblyrat - the room was cold especially in the winter, even with our extra two heaters). However when we mentioned warm above, it was indeed a warm atmosphere and with a rise in temperature outside. It was wonderful to see some old and new friends who came along for the last evening. It is the end of an era of Folk at the 'Stars' from the Sunday sing that went on first in the Skittle Alley and then in the snug bar for many years, not forgetting 'Dog Days' which ran for 10 years. So many memories and the support we had from everyone. On the plus side our current Landlord & Landlady (Steve and Sheila) are taking on The Queen Victoria from 17th March, which is a mile further on towards Reading on the Upper Wargrave Road. (Just off the A4). So our next journey begins on Thursday 1st March at the Fifield Inn, and we are looking forward to keeping on the Tradition. Lastly our thanks go to the club and all those members who visited the many venues, that expressed an interest in having us. Pearl & Tony |
