I am going to be travelling around Australia's east coast for the next few months and was wondering if there are any folk clubs or nights anyone knows of?

Thanks!

Claire

The website jam.org.au carries some information on events in New South Wales.

Venues on jam - website of Folk Federation of NSW are not all current - check the last dates

Folk Alliance Australia - see venues - not all give their location - Qld area code (04), NSW & ACT (02) Vic (03) - tho that doesn't really help with the mobile numbers & I noticed several out of date entries.

When you're in Sydney pop into The Loaded Dog - 4th Saturdays, Feb-Nov, where you can meet a few Ozcatters, me, Bob Bolton, Guest Gerry, freda underhill,

For Brisbane the Folkrag, as Sandra has linked, is pretty well THE reference. However I'm aware of a couple of changes not in there that may or may not be permanent. Let us know if Brisbane is on your itinerary and I'll try to update the info.

Don't forget Newcastle. We have a thriving Hunter folk club and several ukestras associated with it.

give Mark Jackson a ring. he's very involved with the whole Hunter music scene and i'm sure he'll point you in the right direction.

Excellent, thanks everyone. Will be in Sydney at the end of my trip (June/July) as that's where I fly out from. Will be in Brisbane from Tuesday this week! Would love to check out the Folkrag.

If you're not totally worn out by your trip, Tuesday night at The BUg would be a good place to start, and to meet a few people who can suggest other places. Brisbane Unplugged Gigs

Thanks Mal! My flight arrives in at 5.10pm, so might not make it tomorrow night. If not I will definitely try and make it along next Tuesday.

That would be a bit of a rush! There will be several other things on during the week as you'll find in the Folk Rag. I look forward to possibly meeting you next week.
