Subject: RE: Gordon Bok and Kendall Morse perform - 15 March From: bbc Date: 16 Mar 12 - 09:24 AM It was a lovely time, KT! The Captain told stories & played one song for Jacqui to sing. He has not lost his touch at all! It was great to hear Gordon & the others--no surprise! Duane & I enjoyed seeing Mary & Tami & meeting members of Kendall's family. Just an all-round good time! Wish you all could have joined us! best, Barbara |
Subject: RE: Gordon Bok and Kendall Morse perform - 15 March From: jacqui.c Date: 16 Mar 12 - 10:05 AM It was a very good evening - a very varied bill with songs and poetry from people making their living on the water. Kendall was a riot - he had the whole room laughing - and Gordon sang two of my favourites of his songs. We had a meal in the restaurant afterwards - company included two daughters, one ex-wife and her husband Kendall and me and Gordon. Lots of good food and laughter. |

Subject: RE: Gordon Bok and Kendall Morse perform - 15 March From: KT Date: 16 Mar 12 - 02:42 PM Sounds like a wonderful and heart-warming time! I bet there are some residual face and side aches from so much laughter! Even though I couldn't be there, it was sweet knowing it was happening. |

Subject: RE: Gordon Bok and Kendall Morse perform - 15 March From: SINSULL Date: 16 Mar 12 - 04:34 PM It was a good evening. Got to meet deepdoc and his lady but no time to chat.Never did say hi to Allison. Some highlights: It opened with a lobsterman whose name I never got - Steve?? He sang two songs of his own. Harbor Lights and a song about a young fisherman's first experience with a nor'easter. Gordon performed his piece about overhearing two fisherman on the radio - slice of fishing life. Another was a story he put to a woodcarving - Jenny. Has a neat chorus but people weren't singing along. Kendall lost in the fog..."How do you get to Camden?" he calls. "My father takes me" is the answer. The poetry readings were fascinating. From Aunt Mary's musings on a goose to a fisherman's brief comment on the beach filled with children. The poets are lifelong fishermen including a woman from Downeast.I would love to hear more from her. Hope they do it again next year. |
