Subject: Packie Byrne 95! From: Dave Hunt Date: 23 Feb 12 - 09:29 PM Last weekend several of us went to Ireland to help Packie Manus Bryne celebrate his 95th birthday!! - He is well, and as witty as ever. At his house he did a duet with Bonny Shaljean on harp and him playing mouthorgan - superb! In the pub (the Corner House in Ardara, Donegal)he sat surrounded by musicians and singers from all over the place, and many pictures were taken. Just as he was leaving a man wanted to sing one of his songs so they did a sort of duet - magical. He did say "Well I'll see you in five years time then - but of course some of you may not be around by then"!!! I first met him in 1965 and it has always been a privilege to know him - I have never heard him say a bad word about anyone - nor anyone say a bad word about him - a real gentleman. Happy birthday and Good Luck Packie! |
